Sell Fuji XT3 or XH1 to buy XT5?

In reading your original post, it sounds like the XT3 is your primary camera, and the XH1 is mostly gathering dust. They are both excellent cameras that are capable of producing excellent image quality. The XT5 is a wonderful camera with several improvements over both; ibis, 40mpx, latest processor, improved AF, etc, etc..and whatever bugs there might be in AF will certainly be addressed in firmware, but still the AF will not be as good as Sony, Canon, Nikon Z9, or the XH2s. To me, you need to answer the following questions for yourself:

1. Why do you want to upgrade, latest toy or is there a specific feature(s) that you want or need?

2. Why do you need or want two camera bodies?

3. do you shoot professionally or is this a hobby?

4. if you prefer the grip/body of the XH1, why are you not shooting with it more?

5. Have you considered the XH2 or XH2s as options? One point worth noting is that XT3, XH1 and XT5 have similar LCD screens (3 way tilting), while the XH2(s) have fully articulating screens…I would have purchased the XH2, but wanted the tilting lcd and purchases the XT5

6. Are you working against a certain budget?

There are no right or wrong answers here as these are personal to your situation, but is maybe helpful in your decision making process. You cannot go wrong here, but there are trade-offs.

If it were me, I would sell the one that has the most value in the used market (XT3?), and purchase the XT5., Maybe sell both? Or milk the bodies that you have and buy some lenses.

I think he wants the xt5 for the 40mp, he can get the xh2, but i think he is one of those fuji shooters who NEED THOSE DIALS!

My XT3 is the better camera I think. Yes I think! But it s not what I feel:-) When I look at the situation rational and my needs; Landscape, Wildflife, Portraits, Street photography the XT3 is the better camera with regard to autofocus...also looking at video capabilities I think the XT3 is the better option. What exactly do you mean by wild life?  What type of wild life photography do you do or want to do?  Do you get paid to do such stuff?

However it is not so easy to justify selling such an excellent camera (for stills) as the XH1 allthough i know if i have to sell one it is probably better to sell the XH1. My XT3 is more heavy used then my XH1 as the XH1 was bought as a backup body for my XT3.

The XT5 is the better camera for landscape, the autofocus is better then the XT3 and it has IBIS and better video capabilities

I think the gear you have is already cream of the crop for us ordinary mortals.

Save the cash and get a good lens instead.

If you think you need IBIS, then rather buy a used X-T4.

Since the eighties where there was no IBIS anywhere in sight,myself - and countless others - have produced tack-sharp images.

So forget about the tech-hype. It's just for making money and NOT for your wellbeing.

In my opinion you should ditch the XH and stay with the X_T3.

It makes more sense to have an X-H1 and an XT5 than an X-T3 and an X-T5. If you find you no longer use your X-H1 much or at all after getting the X-T5, then sell that as well.

Just checked my XT5… it has a grip. Would be weird if it didn’t have a grip now considering it did when I bought it.
