Dear all, I am a bit torn between two decisions...sell my XT3 or sell my XH1 to have some cash for buying the XT5. I have actually tried to sell my XH1 already but I am glad I did not sell it so far because the grip, the shutter button, the top display....

My XT3 is the better camera I think. Yes I think! But it s not what I feel:-) When I look at the situation rational and my needs; Landscape, Wildflife, Portraits, Street photography the XT3 is the better camera with regard to autofocus...also looking at video capabilities I think the XT3 is the better option. At the moment i dont do much video but i have the intention to do more in the future

However it is not so easy to justify selling such an excellent camera (for stills) as the XH1 allthough i know if i have to sell one it is probably better to sell the XH1. My XT3 is more heavy used then my XH1 as the XH1 was bought as a backup body for my XT3.

The XT5 is the better camera for landscape, the autofocus is better then the XT3 and it has IBIS and better video capabilities

Any advice from your side?

Based on your description, sell the X-T3 and replace it with an X-T5.
Sell both and get the X-H2S which is the best camera for video and has a nice grip, IBIS, very good auto focus, dual memory cards, large battery, and an excellent grip.

Having owned all 3 my thoughts are thus:
  • The X-T3 is twice the camera of the X-H1. The X-H1 gets a lot of love (which I can understand) but if you want up to date features (or the best features you can afford) the X-H1 is not that camera. It was long in the tooth even when it was released let alone now.

  • Personally, I don’t find the X-T5 a massive upgrade from the 3. 3 to 4 pretty much saw the introduction of IBIS and that was it. I can’t honestly say I have noticed an improvement in my photography moving from the 4 to the 5. Yes the 5 has the higher MP sensor (which is nice) but it’s honestly nothing to write home about.
The point I suppose I’m trying to make is, you will see a bigger improvement/jump in moving from the X-H1 than from the X-T3. If you like the ergonomics of the X-H1 (top plate etc) then an X-H2 or X-H2S would be an excellent addition alongside the X-T3 IMO.

Sell the X-H1 and get the X-H2.

How do you know the T5 has better AF, have you tried and tested it yourself? From everything I’ve read and seen regarding AF and imagine quality comparisons I would not touch a XT5. But that’s just me.
Any advice from your side?
Keep shooting with your T3 or get a different model or wait until the T5 issues get resolved by Fuji.

You have 2 excellent cameras. Why not buying a new lenses if already have the cash. Xt3 is the best xt version even it is not has extra mps. Xh1 has everything one wants from a dslr like and mirrorless.

The X-H1 is a 3rd gen Fuji camera

The X-T3 is a 4rd gen Fuji camera as is the X-T4.

Moving from a 3rd gen to the 5th gen camera (X-T5) will see many improvements.

Of course - the price you get for your whichever used gear you sell will reflect that fact.

The control interfaces will be closer between the X-T series than trying to mix a X-H series to an X-T interface as well.

The X-T5 has no grip - it was designed as a no grip body. Grip is reserved for the X-H2 and X-H2s in the 5th gen bodies. So personal preference.

From everything I have read - the AF on the X-T5 beats the X-T3 and X-H1 hands down.

Its gets crushed when compared against Sony, Nikon and Canon AF systems.

So look at your frame of reference first.

Selling the XT-3 will not generate a lot of money because the prices for a used X-T3 are down. You'll lose both money and an excellent camera. Moneywise, it would be better to keep the XT-3 as a second body and wait a little bit until the price for the X-T5 goes down or you'll get a used one.

You have some heavy lenses. Keep the H1. Sell the T3. The H1 was built to last, and will still take great pics until the end of time.

I think you need to figure out for yourself why it is that you want or need 2 cameras. Reading your original post, it sounds like you have mixed reasons for the 2 cameras. What's most important for having the 2 cameras? If one is strictly a backup for the other, then I'd sell the X-H1 and buy the X-T5. You then have 2 cameras that are easy to switch between and the T3 makes a great backup to the T5. If you like having the difference in body styles for different purposes, then I'd still sell the X-H1 and buy the X-H2. You then have 2 very capable cameras in the T3 and and the H2.

Picked up the X-T5 on release day. I’d definitely sell the X-T3 before selling the X-H1.

Contrary to what some that haven’t even used the X-T5 believe the AF is much improved over the 26mp non-stacked Fuji bodies. Ibis is very useful and the extra mp allows for more cropping if needed.

The X-H1 still has the most robust overall feel and best shutter button of any modern Fuji IMO.

I have two X-T3's and did have an X-H1 (sold it about 2 years ago). I thought about selling both X-T3's and getting an X-T5. I kept asking myself what was the improvement I was going to see in my photography if I did that. When I was really honest with myself the answer kept coming back; probably somewhere between very little and nothing. I decided to spring for the new 33 f/1.4 lens instead.

Great decision for me. Of course your mileage may vary.

Maybe order the XT5 and spend a month with it first. Then decide which it should replace.

I wasn't and never compared the T5 to the other brands.

Did Fuji already fixed the problem where people are seeing the green AF confirmation yet the images are not in focused?

If you think it's night and day in regards image quality then you might be disappointed.

26mp to 40mp isn't as big as you think. Dynamic range and noise is virtually identical.

Your XT3 will be relevant for a very long time.

Don't jump on the hype train.

If you going for the XT5, I would recommend you sell the XH1 and keep the XT3. But if u want to sell the XT3 and keep the XH1, I would recommend you to get the XH2 over the XT5. The reason behind my suggestion is simple, the handling of XT3 is similar to XT5 and the feel of XH2 would be closer to XH1 over the XT5. If you do events using both cameras at the same time, especially during critical moment, you will appreciate it more that both your camera has similar handling/ feel in your hands.

Excellent advice to buy FUJI X-H2S which gets top reviews. X-T5 not as well built and 40mp sensor not absolutely necessary. Also X-T5 not cheap for sure. No grip.
