Should i upgrade from Canon 1200D

should i upgrade from Canon 1200D?, I use this camera almost for 1 year with 50mm F/1.8 STM lens and 18-55mm F/3.5-F/5.6 IS II kit lens. Any recommendation? cause I'm looking for 6000 x 4000 resolution camera with 19/20MP higher than my 1200D. My fellow photographer friends suggest me like 750D/800D or i should keep my 1200D?.

JXVELIIN,

6000 X 4000 is 24,000.000 or 24 megapixels, or 24mp.

There are plenty of 24mp cameras around. Two that come to mind are the Canon SL3 (or 250D), and the Canon T8i (or 850D).

Do you have a budget?

Then lenses you have will work with both of the cameras I mentioned, so you can shop for the camera body only. The T8i sells for about $750.00 (body only) and the SL3 sells for about $650.00 (body only).

There are a couple of members in this forum who own the T7i (the 800D) and they seem to be pretty happy with them.

You can keep the lenses you have, but you might think about upgrading your 18-55mm lens.

If you want to stick with a zoom lens, the Canon 55-250mm lens is a nice lens and sells for about $250.00.

Re: Should i upgrade from Canon 1200D

Should you upgrade?  Absolutely!  You'll find the Canon T7i (800D) or Canon T8i (850D) to be a massive improvement.

You could keep your Canon 1200D as a backup camera, since the residual value will probably be not very much.  But that depends on what you would like.  I always have extra cameras, which are way more that I need.  But photography is rather an inexpensive hobby once you pay for the equipment and if you enjoy it...by all means...go for it.

As already mentioned the Canon 55-250mm lens is great or consider also the Canon 18-135mm USM lens.  Both lenses are relatively inexpensive and are of good quality.

Re: Should i upgrade from Canon 1200D

I got budget around under $350-400 and looking for used camera (still can't afford the new one)
actually I want to buy canon 70d but my friends told me don't buy the used 70d cause there's have a mainboard problem
also thanks for suggesting the 55-250mm lens but i don't think i need that for close up shots, or maybe 18-135 STM lens

Thanks for the suggestion but i can't have this 1200D as a backup camera cause i will sell it and buy the new one (for the upgrade)
And also thanks for suggesting the 55-250mm lens but i think i won't need that much for close up shots maybe i'll choose the 18-135mm lens

I know how you feel. it's always that way for me.

I don't really have anything to add about a new (used) camera.

However, just to be clear, a telephoto lens (in this case the 55-250mm) is for far-away subjects, not close-ups (that's what a macro lens is for).

JXVELIIN,

With that kind of budget, I might suggest the Canon T7 (body only).

It's a 24mp camera, and runs about $350.

Re: Should i upgrade from Canon 1200D

I think you should upgrade.

With a budget of under $400, you can shop for used cameras of models: SL3, T6i (750D), T6s (760D), T7i (800D)…

My T6s (released April 2015, purchased December 2016) still works great.

Good luck.

What is the reason you want to change your 1200D? What don’t you like about it?
