Used M6 Mark II from Adorama seems new

I only cottoned-on to the idea of an EOS-M system to lighten my travel photo load just *after* the M6ii stock was liquidated as refurb at a low price.  So instead, I bought one from Adorama in 9/Excellent condition for US$650. It arrived looking packaged as new, with battery cover, taped-shut plastic bags, etc, - including the separate viewfinder, which I didn't expect from the description.

How can I tell what the shutter count is?  First frames from it are numbered from 0001, but that can be reset, yes?

Thanks for the help,

Teo

You got a great deal. I am surprised Adorama didn't catch that and separate the finder for sale. Adorama is a good place to buy from. The EVF-DC2 sells separately used for $125 - $175 usually on eBay.

Check this thread for shutter count, seems some found a way to get it:

Thanks for the welcome and advice.  I will have to find time to check out ShutterCount or similar to confirm, but this camera seems close enough to new that the actual count is likely unimportant.

I have browsed through the tips thread, and will need to read through again once I have become a bit more familiar with the device.

I jumped in with both feet, ordering the 32/1.4 and 11-22 lenses to go with the camera.  In my first few forays to shoot, the grip felt uncomfortably cramped, with my fingers scrunched up to both hold the camera and manipulate dials.  So I followed-up with an order of the Smallrig grip.  That accessory does help the grip situation substantially, but also adds significant weight to this light little body.  No free lunch, I guess - and still substantially less bulky than a 6D with 16-35/4, for instance.  Seems like someone could make a Smallrig-styled grip from a rigid, durable plastic for the best of both worlds, however.

Another minor negative to the Smallrig is that the Canon EF-M adapter is not compatible and cannot be mounted when the grip is on.  Not that I expect to use my EF lenses much with the M6ii, but when a larger lens is mounted is exactly when I'd want a more-secure grip.

Anyway, still excited to learn the camera's handling and figure how it will help me make images during travel...

Best,  Teo

Correction: I did not originally realize that the tripod foot on the adapter was removable.  Once removed, the adapter no longer interferes with the Smallrig grip. Perfect!
