flash for K3

The trusty Metz I've been using for years is no longer behaving nicely. & since it has been a long time, doing web searches, I'm finding several new mfr names that I know nothing about. I'm hoping not to spend $400ish for a Pentax flash, which I'm certain would be fine. I see a Yongnuo that seems fine, but at $85 I feel that I should be nervous. Any experience with this or other 3rd party flashes?

Godox/Adorama Flashpoint TT350 p, 860 III p, or V1 P. Those are your best options for your budget.

I am not a Pentax insider. I just have a unique way of gaining insight.

Re: flash for K3

I use a couple of Sigma flashguns, specifically the EF-500DG ST PA-PTTL for P-TTL compatibility and an earlier variant of the same model which is TTL only.

I've had no trouble with either, though I've read reports that the foot can be fragile.

The TTL version was bought locally as "new - old stock" for "not a lot" some years ago, the P-TTL gun came from eBay for £5 + p&p

More expensive options are available

Yes. I use Flashpoint (Adorama brand slapped on Godox), and it works great. Good prices, and will be compatible with other Godox flash and triggers and such.

Well out of date - but, none the less, useful:

2nd hand AF540FGZ are easily available around $150 and Metz Mecablitz MB 58 AF-2 in similar price level. No need for buying new one.

And concerning behavior, get some isopropyl alcohol, some cloth and wipe contacts on camera. That usually helps a lot.

Agree; and add the Godox Xpro-trigger so the flash can also be used off-camera.

I just moved into this sytem and like it a lot. You can get two remote controlled flashes and the controller for the cost of an AF-540, plus, the V1 has some serious power and fast recharge in a 400+ flash dedicated Li-ion battery.

Thank yoiu all. FYI I had forgotten about the isopropyl alcohol, & tried it, but same problem. I appreciate the suggestions & will investigate.

Myself, I got the TT350P & a trigger. Later I added the AD200Pro as a bigger light.
