Q: Vegas video editing (versions)

Hello,

I've been using Vegas for years and am comfortable with it. I have it on two machines, a Desk job with Windows 10 and a laprop with Windows 7. I recently acquired a small (14") lightweight laptop with Windows 11 for travel, and wanted to occasionally use it for video editing.

I'd rather not face another "learning curve" with different software, but don't want to spend a lot of $$ for "occasional" use. Any suggestions as to what "Vegas" versions (or other software that has a similar interface with it) that would be suitable? I am currently using the "13" versions. Thank you.

I haven't used Vegas since Sony owned it so take what I say with a grain (ton) of salt.

Is there a reason you want a new version? Have you tried what you have?

Small lightweight doesn't really mean much. There are some powerful machines that fit that and there are some fairly low power machines. Even the low power ones can do a fair bit if you aren't doing anything too demanding. My old travel laptop was fine for reviewing clips and editing . At least with less demanding codecs. Odds are your machine isn't less powerful than mine was.

My issue was not explained well. I already have bought two Vegas'es, installed in two other machines, and thinking to buy a third to load onto the little (but more powerful) laptop. But don't want to learn a different way to run a program - would rather stay with something familiar but at a reasonable cost.

I'm still kind of confusedĀ  I glanced around and from what I can find it seems v14 limits you to two installations. Newer versions of Vegas some unspecified higher number.

Assuming v13 was the same I think what you own should be okay to add to your new computer.

You can buy Vegas Pro 18 on Humble Bundle for $25. Check the hardware requirements.

Thank you, Eduardo. It seems they are selling $850 software for $25. ( ! ) The reviews for this site is about as "dismal" as I have ever encountered. I do not think I would risk doing business with such a site.

The "Humble Bundle" has been around for years. It's a cheap way to pick up older software at bargain prices, but the bundles are only available for a short period of time.
