RE: K70

I've been trying to take short (10) sec. photos. It shows in the menu a self-timer lite and Remote Control tite both lites are turned on. Where is the activation button to activate the timer?

Thanks, Tom

Also is there a hand held remote shutter release?

Yes, there is a remote. I got it on Amazon. It plugs into the mic  port.

You're trying to do a video, right? I did one with this remote and it was very simple. I went into video mode, turned on the remote, chose to use it, and then  the start button started and stopped the video.

Just make sure you get the CS-310 (compatible) release, not the earlier CS-205 … the CS-310 has a 4-pole 3.5mm plug, it's only used with the K-70, KP (and presumably KF).

With the K-70 you also have the option to use an infra-red remote control, but the receiver port is only on the front of the camera … good if you want to be in the picture/video, awkward if you want to be stood behind the camera.

Re: RE: K70

Thanks, Kypher that's pretty much what I wanted to know however; what is the part number of the IR one? That one is what interest me the most or maybe both.

Unfortunately that link asks for a login

The Pentax part number is O-RC1 for the Waterproof Remote Control … which are, unfortunately, both expensive and sealed, needing to be returned to a "service centre" to have the battery replaced (I believe it's soldered in!)

There is/was also a Remote Control F that was compatible with the DSLRs … I believe it's been discontinued.

I use similar to IR WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL for PENTAX K-M K-7 K110D MZ-6 K10D K20D K100D K200D | eBay… somewhat cheaper and the battery is replaceable When my original one failed (bought some 20 years ago with my *ist film camera) I just bought a new one

All Pentax DSLRs that have i/r remote capability use the same unit, so compatibility isn't an issue … I don't know how far back in history this compatibility goes, so couldn't guarantee an i/r remote initially released for a film camera would work with modern units.
