Fuji X-E4 on the streets
21

Last year I have sold my X-t2 and X-pro2 and bought a new X-E4.

I wanted a smaller form-factor in a RF style camera with a flip screen for the streets.

The reviews of the X-E4 are not always positive, and I think that's a shame.

Omar Gonzalez even cancelled his order.

I was worried by the lack of grip and buttons, but this camera is a joy to use (the IQ and AF is similar to the other Fuji's at the same generation). The buttons allow me to do whatever I want and the small body is easy to grip.

Please take a look at the pictures I have shoot last year with the X-E4:

I don’t normally click on links without a sample pic, but I’m really glad I did. Superb photos, IMHO.

Have a happy new year.

Very nice! What’s you favorite lens for this type of photography?

I did not LOVE my X-E4 until I added a grip. Now it's a great kit with 18-55 or 18/27/60 or 18/35/60, or 14,/27/60. Any one of the "3 lens" kits fit easily a very small bag, or just throwing extra lenses in a jacket or coat pocket.

Adding a grip was a game changer. I didn’t like the height of the base plate, so I used double-sided tape to attach directly, XP2 style.

Started with the X-T30, after it was stolen I tried the X-T3 and sent it back within a week and went with the X-E4 instead. I love how compact it is yet has the same internals as every other camera from that generation. Using the 14, 27, 30, 35/1.4, and 60 is great when I want compact and light, but there’s also the option of using larger lenses like the 16/1.4 and 70-300.

The only way I’d upgrade to the X-Pro4 would be if Fuji went with the 26mp stacked sensor so they could trade the weight and space of the mechanical shutter for IBIS.

A really well put together set, and the soundtrack really compliments the presentation. May I ask who is the performer of that version of "Strawberry Fields Forever"?.

Hi,

Thanks for posting. I enjoyed the set and presentation - good to see images utterly different from my own.

Re: Fuji X-E4 on the streets

Hi Gringostarr,

I know it's slightly OT, but I notice you have the new 30mm.  I've ordered one, but it's yet to arrive.  Are you using it as a general purpose as well as macro lens?   There are a few reviews around that are quite positive but very few serious tests.  How are you finding it?

Thx, cheers, Rod

I have X-E4 and X-T3.  X-E4 is my favorite, hands down. You had to be there, of course.

Definitely not for everyone.

I agree. A really nice set of photos with the X-E4. Well worth watching the video.

(I believe the soundtrack is Strawberry Fields by Tatran).

I traded my X-Pro2 for the XE-4 for similar reasons.  It's a superb camera and with a small lens it's back pocketable.  Hard to beat
