Shutter time

Hello.

I have a canon 500D and I'm looking for a faster shutter time.

When I use the internal flash it will not go faster then 200ms.(with manual mode as well).

Without it I can go to whatever I need but as soon I pop-up the flash it goes back to 200 max

Is there no option the use the flash ???

Re: Shutter time

Read up on Flash Sync speed and it should then make sense to you, eg:

Janvdk,

I am not an expert, but this is how I understand it:

While the flash is capable of firing at speeds of like 1/4000, the camera can't sync with it at any speeds faster than 1/200.

You can use other light sources for a "fill-in" flash, or not use flash at all and let your ISO go higher.

Here's an article about setting the ISO on your 500D:
