What camera should I get?

Wife needed to shoot some indoor facial treatments.

Have 2x Olympus em1 and a couple of fast lenses and lights with softboxes.

Requirements would be to shoot 1080p 60p. Must be easy to use although my wife can pick up some technical settings/skills.

Questions is... Is mft dead? When I went to local megastore, they told me that Olympus and Panasonic are out of production and the store is no longer selling the mft products. Maybe should not invest further in mft.

I am now looking at Sony AX43, Ax700 and Canon G60. May use it for the year long facial treatments shoots and some outdoor leisure shoot (non commercial).

Not sure where you are, but Olympus and Panasonic are still making MFT cameras for sale in the US. It's possible that they have ceased sales in some countries, but definitely not the US. I'm guessing the sales guy was simply trying to steer you to the lines his store carries.

That said, if I didn't already have an investment in MFT lenses, I'd probably get a Panasonic S5 with its kit 20-60mm lens. The price (in the US) is excellent: $1,500. It can shoot 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 all day, and reviewers praise the camera and the lens.

If you want to stay in the MFT format, the Panasonic G9 is $1,000 and can likewise shoot 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 all day long. Get it with Panasonic's 12-60MM f2.8-4 lens if you don't already have the lens you want.

Those are my thoughts.

Which version of the EM 1 do you have? The MK 1, the MK II, or the MK III?

The E-MI MK II (and MK III) is a perfectly fine camera (pretty sure it shoots 1080p 60fps). Just there might be a time limit on recording (like 30-minutes maybe?) Then you would have to re-press the record button.

I am sure that the Sony and Canon Camcorders you mentioned are fine, too. Some people love camcorders because they offer flexibility in certain areas. Other people love mirrorless hybrid cameras (Like the Oly E-M1, the Panasonic GH5 or G9 or S5, etc.,) because they have some flexibility in other areas.

So in short, please veryify whether your current cameras can, or can't, do what you need them to do before investing in a new camera.

By the way, here is a really good video about the capabilities of the Olympus E-MI MK II

My em1 is the first version. I have panasonic lx100 as well. Can shoot 4k and full HD @60p. Wife said it isn't sharp enough (towards soft) indoor and low light is mediocre performance.

So is it a resolution problem?

Is it a lens problem?

Is it a lighting problem?

All of the above?

If low light performance is mediocre, then the camcorders you linked to PROBABLY will be WORSE than your E-M1 MK 1 because they have smaller sensors than your E-M1, and smaller sensors do WORSE in low light.

Maybe she means it is low resolution? In which case, maybe she needs / wants 4K instead of 1080p?

You mentioned that you have some prime lenses, right? Those should be sharp. (Sharper than the built in zoom lenses on a camcorder.)

BTW: Which lights are you using?

If you have a sample video posted on youtubue that shows the problems, that would be great.

Just want to make sure we help you diagnose the problem accurately before suggesting you spend a lot of money on a camera that you MIGHT not need.

Re: What camera should I get?

Wait you still have stores selling cameras?  Around here that would be bigger news.

The two  Sony cameras are camcorders and IMHO need good light. Plus neither is exactly cheap for what you get.

I assume there is a need for AF. Also relatively close focus. Full face I'd guess?
