Santa brought these two lenses for my lad to use on his M6ii this morning. All I can say is WOW! They really are both a bit special and have me now considering Sigma primes for my EOS R.

the other one in the trio is the Canon 32 F1.4

though I have RF and FF stuff, the combo of these three primes, the m6II, dxo PL6 with NR, hard to best

You mean the Sigma 30/1.4 right? which is a tiny bit wider than the equally brilliant Canon 30/1.4 and significantly cheaper.

I have the Sigma 30 and 56/1.4s and they are both amazing especially the 56/1.4. "L" quality lens for sure!

No doubt that the Sigma 30 is as good as the 16 and 56, but most folks likely had the Canon 32 already, and added the 16 and 56 to fill out the trio.  If Canon hadn’t released the 32, I think all of us would indeed be owning the Sigma 30 as well!

It’s too bad that Sigma never got around to bringing us a 24 f/1.4, because I would have snapped that one up too!  The little Canon 22 f/2 is a sweet micro pancake, but a faster aperture and faster AF would be welcome by (at least) myself for some types of shooting.

both are sharp wide open for sure - which is brilliant

the 32 has a tad better magnification (.25 vs .14) and a tad better mfd (230 mm vs 300 mm), and under certain conditions perhaps a tad less color cast, but has more than a tad higher cost as you said Some say the bokeh on the 30 is a tad better, but who knows - In real pictures, probably not a big difference, but to each their own to decide

for those who only own m system, and not an R body, imo the siggy trio (or a 32 Canon swap for the siggy 30) is a must if one has to deal with low light without flash

in my case, I'm shooting RP and M6II, so the Canon RF 85 F2 IS on RP takes the place of the siggy 56 and with IS allows me to drag the shutter down lower. And I'm using my EF 24 F2.8 IS on RP instead of buying 16 f1.4 for my m6II. But if I owned just M system, I'd have those siggy lenses

I've been doing events and using my brilliant combo of m6II + 32 f1.4 + 100L + dxo PL5 with deep prime NR and no flash and getting results clients like - even up to 12,800 iso - which is all that matters as you know. One thing I love about the 32 f1.4 and m6II is the .25 magnification in direct sunlight and no need to use ND filter for shots up to ss 1/16,000 with the e-shutter - though it only does single shot with e-shutter - I'm sold that e-shutter is the future for me in any body I buy in the future - Happy Holidays Alexis!

Congrats

I can confirm that both lenses are great. I hesitated for a long time with the 16mm (because of its size), but nevertheless it delivers great results and it is also a wonderful lens.

Re: Sigma 56mm and 16mm f1.4

Its amazing just to be able to nail focus in sharp 1.4.
I'm still amazed by it.
The 56 is too long for my tastes, but it is tempting for portraits that resemble my 5d3/50mm @2.8
the 16...i would love to find a use case..16 crop is...fine i guess.
Cheers all, enjoy the sweet gear

Right ?  They are still marked down but are not $319.   They have good sales but I have to watch.

Great lens ?  I am so spoiled by my 32mm and 56mm that if the 16mm can hang with them ?   For real ?      I will be so happy.

The 16mm is still $319 on Amazon USA.  Soooo tempting, but I am telling myself that I need to spend more time using the gear that I have than pursuing yet more of it.
