A Bit Of Work To Do (MD7)

Since Turbguy1's post about infrared with his DiMAGE 7 I have been interested in obtaining one. Recently I found one with the original box and paperwork.

However, it came with a bit of corrosion to clean. Thankfully the metal contacts can be removed and cleaned easily. The internal contacts look good.

I was a bit surprised that it came with some sort of IR filter. I can't find any info on it online but when held up to a very bright light it looks like a redish-burgundy color. The camera came with a 1GB CF card that had 2 thumbnail photos taken with the filter. The effect looked nice. I'm going to post on the Open Talk forum to see if anyone knows about the filter.

Looks like a store branded filter . You'll soon see if it's any good .

If you do get another, I can recommend a B&W 092 filter . It lets light past down to 695nm rather than the usual 720nm , your still getting the effects but as your letting a bit more light in it improves the shutter speed for hand held shooting.

I use one on both film ( Rollei Infrared ) and digital , though i do use some 720nm as well .

I'm sure the camera will be working fine , but make sure you have a spare set of batteries with you when you go out with it .

Look forward to seeing your results.
