Fantastic little lens
13

I bought this lens back in 2014. I took maybe few hundred shots with it and X-E1 and left it in camera cabinet. Fast forward to 2019 when I purchased my second Fujifilm camera X-T2. Almost forgotten 18mm came out of closet and made a permanent reservation spot in my camera bag.

This is not a perfect lens by any technical standards. Some copies are soft wide open but mine is tack sharp straight from f/2. I love the size of it. It fits any Fujifilm body, from X-A and X-E to X-T to X-H series cameras. Focal length of 28mm equivalent in FF world is by far my favorite FoV. The lens is loud but I don't care 'cause I don't shoot movies. The aperture ring is somewhat flimsy but I don't care 'cause it works. AF is not the fastest but you'll be able to nail at least 90% of shots...so, it's not a big deal.

Another feature that I like a lot on Fujifilm XF 18mm F2 is close focusing distance. You can get really close to your subject and if you shoot at f/2, background will turn into cream. Simply amazing.

This lens is cheap but IMO, holds the highest price to performance ratio of all x series lenses. Its closest rival must be 18-55mm kit lens. All in all, I am keeping this little gem for as long as I own Fujifilm X-series cameras.

It's an awesome little lens, perfect on the X-E4 IMO. Very nice for photowalks and events and even photo shoots. Love it a lot even though I'm just borrowing it from a friend! 😂 I love the flare it makes (I don't use a hood).

Lovely set of images (and model) really showcases the capability of a lens that unfortunately many dismiss out of hand.

It really is quite a capable lens. Not only is capable but it also enables with it being a no brainer to carry around given its size. The only improvement it really needs is autofocus, sample-to-sample consistency, and perhaps WR too.

Hard to beat a walk-a-bout with my X-E4, Fuji 27f2.8 and the Fuji 18f2.0 in my pocket!
