Canon R7 cant get any flash working

I have recently bougt Canon R7 and I am really happy with it. I have my speedlite 580 EX but I can not get it to work with the R7. It has "flash firing" disable (and is gray). If I click on it it says "not awailable because of the assiciated functions setting: shutter mode).

However, it seems the flash is working in auto mode (the green) and i Scenery (portrait), but not in any other mode such as M, AV, TV etc. This has always worked on my other Canon cameras.

Does anyone know what the promblem can be?

Peter

Sounds like you're in electronic shutter (ES) mode, which doesn't support flash on this body. I don't have mine to hand to check exactly where the menu setting is, but it will be somewhere in the shooting menus.

That's great. The Canon menu system is generally very good, but it doesn't warn of the conflict if you already have ES selected then try to use flash. Instead the flash just doesn't fire, which is very unhelpful!

My 580EXII does not work on my new R7 in electronic shutter mode. It works perfectly in Elec. 1st-curtain shutter mode. The same applies to my Meike MK320 speedlite.

Whereas with the R3 flash works in ES (due to the much faster readout of the sensor).
