Which bodies will Fuji release in 2023?

What does everybody want?

Personally I"m waiting for the 40mp X-S10 and it may not be a 23 release?

Pro4?

Obviously a T40/E5 will appeal to those that use those lines.

For the X line I doubt anything but the X-T40 will be released but I'd say we'll probably get the X-Pro4 announcement late next year. The X-S10 was announced after both the X-Pro and X100 updates but with the supply chain and other issues for both the X-Pro and X100 it might be pushed up so Fuji can release 2 frames in the X line in 2023.

GFX wise I would expect either a stacked sensor 100mp camera or a non stacked 160mp one. I'd personally love a GFX 100R or even a fixed lens GFX camera (medium format X100) but who knows if Fuji sees any potential offering either of those.

They'll probably just release the X-T40 and X100Z, maybe the X-S20 if they want to keep the refresh cycles high on it.

X-S20 with stacked sensor.

I love the X-H2s, but it is just too big and heavy (and expensive) for my taste.

Xs10 was a typo, I meant XS20.

I'm inclined to think the stacked 26 will only be for a top end body.

I haven't held a new H series but own a H1 which is the biggest X body so far.I do like the S10 size, its my favourite Fuji.If they bring a S20 thats same I'm in.

Just be aware that stacked sensors and difficult and expensive to manufacture so if you are asking for one your also asking for a several hundred $$ bump in price. One of the reasons I suspect that the X-H2s wil be the only model to get it.

I would gladly pay the premium for a lighter smaller body!

More 26MP bodies???

I am wondering if Fuji might reuse the old 26MP sensor in some of their body refreshes. It would be interesting to see what Fuji's latest processors and algorithms could extract for the old sensor as the original 26MP sensor looks to have faster readout and lower rolling shutter than the new 40MP sensor.  It would also allow for more differentiation among the lineup.

Here is a hypothetical...

  • X-H2s - new 26MP stacked
  • X-H2 - 40MP
  • X-T5 - 40MP
  • X-Pro4 - 40MP
  • X-S20 - old 26MP
  • X-T40 - old 26MP
  • X-E5 - old 26MP

I don't think they can keep it from a marketing standpoint. Keep in mind, 99% of customers who go to Best Buy or Walmart see a camera and ask "does it have a lot of megapixels?" they literally could care less about anything else except maybe the looks and the lenses. I work at a rental company for camera gear and I get the question constantly when people ask which is better.

Fuji wouldn't sell many second generation X-S20 cameras if they had the same megapixel sensor as the first generation.

Why do people keep repeating X-T40 - merely wishful thinking, or is it backed up with some rumors?

Using the non stacked 26mp has been suggested elsewhere, theres nothing wrong with it as far as IQ goes and would obviously benefit from the updated AF and newer processor.

However, with 3 different sensors would Fuji want to cause confusion amongst the users and IS(?) the slight update enough?

I think odds are in favour of 40mp.

40 comes after 30 I suppose....but they could call it the X-T30mk3.

Canon and Nikon had basically killed off their entry level lines - I am starting to think Fujifilm may do the same.

XT-5 went on a diet and shrunk in size - my guess X-T##, X-E# and XS-## are at the end of the line.

X-H2s

X-H2

X-T5

They release an X-pro4 and I say they are done for this generation of cameras.

The days of camera companies chasing high volume sales are done. Its all low volume - high prices now.

Your speculation is not the expectations of thousands of the lower end Fuji body users.

I'll bet you are wrong.

The S line may have been a one off to test the market but the T** and E lines are quite popular.

As for CaNik "killed" their entry levels...you better have a look at whats available.

Canon has the entry level RP refurbished for $599,as well as the R10 for RRP 979 but mine cost $790....And the rumours about an entry(no evf) body R50(thats speculation) are quite strong.

As far as Nikon goes...Z30/50/NFC/Z5 are all entry level.

Fuji will compete in the 900-1150 price segment.

I think Fuji's entry level cameras sell very well in Asia, especially their own Japanese market.

It would be logical if they use the old 26mp sensor with new processor for better AF and new film simulations.

I personally wish to see X-Pro4 ASAP, with 40mp sensor, a better LCD design and MIJ build quality.

What confusion? Most manufacturers differentiate models on the basis of megapixels. Also, given how many of the 26MP bodies have been completely out of stock for months, there would not be many new generation bodies sitting alongside prior generation gear. A X-T40 using the old 26MP sensor, but with actual updates, would certainly be less confusing than the X-T30 to X-T30 II update.

It really depends on what Sony is charging for the various sensors. The 26MP is still "current" as Sony just released their first camera using it in the form of the FX30. If the 26MP sensor costs less than the 40MP sensor, if could make sense for model differentiation.
