DP1m - barn pic
7

On my way to the Detroit Lions game, i pulled over at sunrise to snap this. Since i live in michigan, the sunrise was not visible, so replaced the solid grey sky with another from Luminar 4... lol. I agree, it feels like cheating, but we only get 55 days a year of sunlight and often times when i cant play with my camera.

Original, in monochrome

I like them both. Luminar did a great job, and I like your choice of skies. I was surprised when I looked, and the aperture you used shows up as f2.8. The photos look like they have lots of depth of field, though the grass closest to the camera does look out of focus. I figured I would see something like f4 or f5.6, but no, it was f2.8!

It was very early in the morning -- one was under exposed hand held. THe other was exposed better 1/13th but i let the camera rest on the roof of the car -- then had to crop some to fix the angle.

edit.  this was the other pic

With the mono pic, that ladder or slide, whatever it is, sticking out of the barn is quite bright. I'd be tempted to selectively darken the barn to emphasise the contrast with the reflective metal.

I like the original version. It looks cold!

That's a pretty amazing sky replacement. I think as long as you disclose that, it's fine. :-))

I might have to try it myself.

The only place that it's not perfect is in the RHS, to the left of that telephone/power pole.

Re: DP1m - barn pic

Its pretty neat. when you see interesting weather you can go out and take a picture of the sky and later import it to new or older photos. Usually the barn roof tricks the software and i have to use a brush tool to remove the sky from the roof.

While i think its basically cheating -- i think its a good compromise for those of us with day jobs, family, etc. The times i have my camera, the right subject, the right weather is once every ten year event. This way, i can snap the subject whenever i want, snap the sky whenever i want, then merge
