A few photos with my new K3 and 31mm Ltd
19

View towards Sleight Farm - Devizes, Wiltshire, England

Sleight Lane - Devizes, Wiltshire, England  (One of my daily walks)

Frosty Bramble leaves

Frosty leaf frozen to the track

Two gnarly old trees - Stert, Devizes, Wiltshire, England

Into the sun, my wife walking ahead of me as usual

My wife again silhouetted against the bright sky

I just love taking tree silhouettes as you might have noticed

View looking towards Sleight, Devizes, Wiltshire, England

The 31mm Ltd is a lot heavier than my old SMC 50mm f1.7, I have not tried the 50mm on my K3 yet so not sure which one I prefer yet

Thanks for looking

Thank you for your comments. I edit my photos using several programs, firstly I use Topaz Photo AI for noise reduction and sharpening, then Luminar Neo for further enhancement and finally Photoscape X Pro which has an amazing selection of filters, frames, textures so much stuff, so it's Photoscape X Pro that I use for the frames.

Well, a pretty complicated process . Any way, and please don't take it as a criticism, I think that somewhere in this process you apply a little bit more sharpening, at least for my taste. It is visible especially on the tree branches, just look at the first picture.

Feel free to criticise I really don't mind. I have only just started using Topaz Photo AI and still getting used to it. It is a great temptation to choose a too high level of sharpening from the recommended ha ha well it is in my case

I am pretty lazy with the PP of my pictures . I am using the ACDSee photo editor, but doing any post processing only very rarely. Usually I am shooting JPEGs, and the sharpening I set to the bare minimum, i.e. equivalent to the radius of 1 and the amount of 25%. And if I see any such "halo", I reduce sharpening even further. Such an approach makes the pictures closer to the "analog" photography .

I like editing but I feel that I tend to overdo it. I have tried Raw Therapee and Darktable but find them too complicated to use. I shoot RAW+jpeg because I worry that the jpeg does not have enough latitude to recover highlights or shadows

I agree with everyone else. The photos are really, really nice and emotive. I also agree, specifically, with flektogon.  When too much sharpening is applied you'll get the white halo around branches, mountain tops...etc.  Easily fixable and not that distracting at all when zoomed out. It certainly doesn't distract from what you've accomplished in exposure, composition and post-processing. Thanks very much for sharing your images.

Is the autofocus snappy on the 31mm?

Well to be honest the autofocus seems plenty fast enough for me, although it is noisy because of the focusing system used but I really don't see the need for super fast autofocus with a 31mm lens, it's not as though I would be shooting sports action with it. Changing from close up to infinity is more than adequate but I have actually been using it with manual focus because it has such a short throw, its about a quarter turn from close up to infinity and I find the screen on my K3 great for manual focus

Yes it is the most snow we have had for quite a few years but still very little compared to other parts of the UK
