This MC too is ended. Thanks everyone.

HMs:

We had 2 exhibits but unfortunately were not honorable. So this section has no mentions.

3rd and 2nd places will be skipped and...

... Our winner is Richard with his nice photo that excellently depicted warmth in the snow

Congratulations Richard. Its all yours now.

Dunlin,

I'm not sure how I feel about this one:

"We had 2 exhibits but unfortunately were not honorable."

I meant these two(and they were the only exhibits in the MC)

Sorry seems my sense of humor has problems...

Thanks for the win ?, dolivaw. With the continued conversations and suggestions about revamping the forum, I’ll hold off 24 hours before posting another challenge to see if any changes are to be made

I've stated my thoughts although one thing did come to mind. If we just had themes, whatever, but no winner... who sets the (next) theme?

Once again, I'm totally fine with whatever. Just random thoughts...

Sorry I missed this mini-challenge. I was out of town and nowhere near snow, but got some great pics at the Kennedy Space Center, which was on my bucket list.

I must confess that my photography has slowed down this year (so has my mobility - there's some cause and effect there), and I've been kind of in and out of the challenges depending on a lot of things.

Nevertheless, I have a suggestion for what it's worth as to how we might choose themes, should that route be taken.

Before I retired and moved I was a member of the Omaha Camera Club. We chose each year's themes by having everyone throw out suggestions. Then we would discuss/vote until we had it narrowed down to 10 or so, which was what we needed. I would think that we could create a thread for suggestions, and then after a week or so close it, compile the suggestions, and then open another thread to discuss and choose. Not sure there would be an easy way to do a vote, though, but maybe we wouldn't need to, and of course someone would have to do the thread creation and compilation work.

This may flop, but here goes:

Don (The Ontarian) mentioned the Sony Cyber-Talk forum in an earlier thread.

In that forum, they have a Thread entitled, "Weekly Show, Tell and Critique".

The Thread's opening paragraph reads:

"Anything goes in this thread (as long as DPReview's general standards are not violated): any camera; any subject; any post-processing; etc. Recent images you have created in the past week or two are much preferred but not required. A little background on where, how and why you made the image(s) you posted would add interest. By posting here, you are inviting constructive criticism and general discussion of your images. Please share your expertise by providing constructive criticism on photos others have posted."

I like the phrase about "sharing your expertise".

I would add a qualifier that a person could enter the Theme Week as many times as they want, but limit the photographs to no more than 4 (four) photos at a time.

We could have a "Weekly Theme Show"

The person who started any given week could either ask someone to host the next week, or ask for suggestions and pick a person and their suggestion for a theme at random.

This Thread could be in addition to the Challenges Thread, if people want to keep that going; and it is not designed to replace or supercede Dig's Weekly Snapshot Thread.

I'll start one, and like I said, if it flops, so be it.

Look for a new Thread called, "Weekly Theme Show #1"

The primary value of the "Challenge" format, is not that someone is a winner, but that it propagates responsibility for managing the new thread week-to-week. If everyone decides to transition into a themed sharing thread, I think you may run into organizational issues with keeping the new themes going.

The continuation of the long time running "show you snaps" threads are overwhelmingly due to the dedication of a single member who has committed himself to running and commenting almost every week.

Some food for thought...

Hmmm... perhaps...

I'm always willing to help.

Yeah. Digramme is a true superhero.
