genus Dolophones

I did not know the name of this genus of spider when I posted it before.  It is called a wrap around spider because it wraps around a small branch and is near invisible.  It is an orb weaving spider.  They have flattened bodies and wide abdomen.  It would normally not be found on this sort of spot.  It was frightened by something and jumped out of the tree above me.

Most spiders have 8 eyes and do not see well.  This one has 6 eyes.  There are some with only 4 eyes.

Spiders that hunt without using web can usually see very well.

Re: spider name

You would have to look at night.  They hide in the day.
