Winter sunlight
4

There isn't much light around here in the winter, and what there is is almost horizontal, so it gets blocked by houses, walls and bushes. Here and there the occasional beam gets through to light up the bramble leaves.

And sometimes it doesn't get through.

All sdQH with 105mm macro.

Nice set of images Don:  Thanks for sharing and giving us some ideas for shooting in the 'dead time of the year'!

Don,

Lovely images considering the low light at this time of year, the same as yours at this side of the Irish sea. Just goes to show that fine images can be made in any kind of daylight.

They can indeed, even with a Foveon sensor.

Re: Winter sunlight

Nice winter light pics... although if you told me, these were springtime photos, I would have believed it too, lol.
Pic3 shows some blotchy green that sort of falls in and out of "saturation".
Is this something quattro foveon does?
I dont recall my DP Merrills (1,2) doing something like this.

Blotchy green on the leaves, or on the background ?

Deep shadows on my sdQH tend to have green-and-magenta blotches, so it can pay to desaturate the magenta if it's not needed in the picture. One is always walking a tightrope in this kind of photo. Think of it more as an impression than a scientific record.
