Re: TG-6 accessory recommendations for new camera owner

Hi all,
I have not been able to find any good friday/cyber deals on the TG-6. I am buying this camera primarily for snorkeling and other outdoor activities that involve water/conditions not conducive to cell phone cameras.
I have seen bundles which make the cost a little more palatable, but I'm not sure I need all of these things - or it's mostly a marketing ploy.
What do I need to get up and running with the camera? I haven't owned a digital camera for years.
I am also planning on getting the Olympus underwater housing.
Not sure if I should have posted this in the underwater group.
Thanks.
Vic
Note, I have the older TG-5, but they take the same accessories. Also note, I primarily use my mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, so I'm not the typical user.
Be sure to get at least one SDXC card, since digital cameras typically don't come with memory cards. I like 128GB cards.
I don't dive, so I don't use the underwater case. For normal use outside of the water, I like using the LB-T01 lens barrier. It can protect your lens from scratches. I actually use the JJC knock-off version:
You likely will want to get extra batteries. Given you need to charge batteries in the camera, you might want to consider getting a few third party batteries and a multiple battery charger, so that you can plop some/all of your batteries to be charged overnight. I happen to have Kastar batteries/charger, but there are other brands.
If you live in the USA, normally the USA OM/Olympus outlet store have refurbished TG-6's for sale, but at the moment, they are sold out. My brick & mortar store (Hunts in Melrose, MA) has been starting to offer a few refurbished OM/Olympus cameras, and they have both the red and black versions for sale for $400 US (compared to $500 US for new):
If your camera doesn't come with it, perhaps think of one of the floating wrist straps.
