GorillaPod 3K or 5K?

I'm going to start doing some light vlogging and wanted to hear from those of you who have experience with the two. We are taking a trip to Thailand next week and will be recording some videos and taking a ton of photos.

My travel setup as of now will generally consist of my A7 IV, a Samyang 24mm f/1.8, and a Sony 50mm f/1.8. I might occasionally throw the 85mm f/1.8 on there, as well, but don't see that happening often. I am looking to add a mic sometime soon as well as a lumecube-type light, but it'll just be camera and lens(es) for now.

I just bought the 3K, but saw that the 5K is also on a decent sale ($80) and was wondering if the materials, build quality, etc. were really that much of an upgrade.

Please let me know!

Thanks.

Re: GorillaPod 3K or 5K?

I own a Joby GorillaPod 5K and prefer having separate knobs to control the panning and tilt of the ball head. It supports a 5 kg (11lb) payload but weighs twice as much as the 3K. If you're going to add lights and a mic, consider adding Joby's GorillaPod Rig Upgrade kit, which will let you add Lights and a Microphone.

For a direct comparison of their features, check out Joby's guide "GorillaPod 3K vs 5K: everything you need to know"
