Konica Minolta Dynax/Maxxum 7D in the Punjab and Himalaya
7

A small selection of shots from my recent trip to the Punjab and Western Himalaya

All shot with a Konica Minolta Dynax/Maxxum 7D Minolta 50mm f1.4 24mm f2.8 70-210mm f4

Love this camera and it'sd my only digital (my other two being a Minolta Maxxum 7 and a Contax RTS II)

6MP with Minolta 50mm f1.4 24mm f2.8 70-210mm f4

Canon EOS 7D

Very nice great skin tones that old Minolta glass always had colors. Actually just saw a 7D at a pawn shop a few days ago didn't have a battery or charger and was sold as is still thinking of buying it .

The design and ergonomics are perfect - everything is placed where I’d want it to be.

the VF is also, for an APS camera, bright and larger that the usual.

I haven’t shot above iso 400 and DR isn’t great (of course) but I shoot this like I shoot film - have to really think about exposure and light - not like with my iPhone where I can just shoot anywhere and any condition without thinking

I bought mine for I think £40

it was faulty as the flash doesn’t work but I just bought it on a knee jerk based on nostalgia.
i had no idea it was going to be my only camera during a 3 week tour of the northern punjab and Karakoram / western Himalaya.
amazing what Light Room manages to do with the limited DR from out of camera RAW - there’s detail where I didn’t know there’d be.  So I this by exposing for the highligh areas of the main subject. Heavy backlight obviously is difficult - so overexpose amount depending using compensation dial.

works a dream - I just wish it had about 12 MP as 6MP is limited when cropping

I find the images color and look far more pleasing than most other Digital I’ve had inc Olympus OMD EM5II, Fuji  XE2s, Sony A900 and others
