Roloff Farm
3

Last month at the Roloff Farm I saw these skeleton exhibits during the Halloween season. The weather was nice and dry.

Photo No. 1 - This identifies the Roloff Farm. Some of you might know that they have a TV show. I don't watch a lot of TV, so I don't know a lot about it...but some of you may know.

Photo No. 2 - Two skeletons in a wagon....

Photo No. 3 - Now seen closeup, getting ready to drive off.

Photo No. 4 - This is the same pair seen later in the day when we had more clouds. I liked it better when we had the sunshine.

Photo No. 5 - A fireman investigates the fire.

Photo No. 6 - While the other one tries to put it out.

Photo No. 7 - Now we see the same fireman looking at the fire again, much later in the day. They still hadn't put it out. You can see the late-day shadow at the bottom of the photograph.

Photo No. 8 - Here's another exhibit in a forested area. The lighting was very low. You can see how well this camera does with high ISO levels such as these.

Photo No. 9 - Again....

Photo No. 10 - And again....

Photo No. 11 - Scary...  It's not a skeleton, but I thought I would add it in with the series.  This shows how this camera does at ISO12800 with poor lighting.

Photo No. 12 - And my last one.... I hope you liked seeing these Roloff Farm exhibits.

Cool.

Starlings are in serious decline this side of the fishpond. I read that they're doing (relatively) really well in America.

Dunlin,

When they come like this, they are a force of nature like a tidal wave or a tsunami.

There's no stopping them. All of life bends to their will.

Re: Roloff Farm

Hola Dig,

I had a thought last night. What colour (color) profile settings do you use?

I basically always shoot RAW, so it doesn't matter much, but I'm considering partially changing that.

Hi Digirame,

Those are so unusual, no wonder they have a TV series based on/around them, great set of pictures.

Those birds are neat to see.  I really like the first one with the mixture of clouds and sky.

Roloff Farm - Thanks

Thanks for the reply.  I shoot JPEG; the saturation is at 0 and the color tone is 0 for the camera I use with the Canon 18-135mm lens.  I don't like over-saturated photos.  I don't know if that's best, but that is what I use.

Thanks.  I don't know if those exhibits are on the TV show.  I did see the TV cameras setup one year previous, although.

Re: Winter Sun.

Thanks for the variety of photos. Is that some smoke in the first photo? That's what we had during our forest fire season. Good capture of the bird; great to know that you are walking about in winter sunshine.

Re: Winter Sun.

That's a really nice quartet mocha. Well done.

The blue tit in particular is really picturesque.

Re: Winter Sun.

Hi Digirame, Thank You.

It's Industrial Fallout, plenty of it in those parts. Where I was on the other side of the river thing's weren't as bad being a forested area, I had plenty of chances with the bird population and plenty of Sun even though the temps. had dropped.

Re: Winter Sun.

Hi Dunlin, Thank You.

Lots of bird activity and the trees were full of berries, as you can see in the last picture on the right of it.

Yeah, it can keep us indoors...that's a good representation of that.  Sometimes I go outside and take pictures in the rain with my umbrella if it's not too windy.

Re: Roloff Farm

Despite these pics are good and I gave the “Like” to the post, some, esp. the firemen pics are beyond my sense of the black humor. Sorry.

Roloff Farm - Thanks

Thanks for the reply.  We see skeletons so much, that it's not given a second thought by me or others.  But I can see how many things celebrated at Halloween are morbid.  I really don't like those either, but it's part of what I see and photograph.

I look at the celebration of the day of the dead as something more positive like life eternal.  Again, I agree...I like to see happy people and things of life...that's my preference over the morbid aspects of Halloween.
