Adjust flash sync speed in Av?

Hi,

Is it possible to change the default shutter speed when shooting with and external flash on the m6 ii?  No matter what, it shoots at 1/60s when in Av mode.  I can certainly adjust it by shooting in Manual.  But it would be nice, I think, if the default were, say 1/100s rather than 1/60s.  Is there no way to control this?

Re: Adjust flash sync speed in Av?

Setting the minimum shutter speed has no effect if your using flash. Go into the camera menu RED panel 2 go into set ISO SPEED if you set high low SHUTTER Speed press INFO read info all the way to the bottom of info. To go down press the trash icon on the pad.

There may be a menu item (something called Safety Shift or other) that limits your shutter speed.  I think I remember seeing something like that (do a Menu dive).

I shoot flash using Full Manual, which gives a person complete control.  Highly recommend giving that a try.

Best of luck!

There is a limitation with shutter speed when using Av.  I pointed to it in my post it is in the camera menu as well as the cameras manual.

Thank you both.  I can't seem to get any other shutter speed than 1/60s while in Av.  But that's ok.  As R2D2 suggested, I've been doing some trial and error and will give manual a try while using the flash.

1/60 shutter speed in AV is the default speed it can't be changed.

When I'm in Av Mode I can shoot at whatever shutter speed I like, from waaay slow up to the max sync speed (1/200 sec).  That's with either the built-in or external flash.
