About using vintage glass on Samsung NX cameras.

Hello, some time ago i bought 500 mm Sigma prime lens with Olympus OM mount. The OM to NX adapter arrived today. Eager to try it...but a problem occured. The camera does not allow me to change shutter speed. Switching modes did not help, it is stuck on 30 seconds. As i understand, many people use vintage lenses, so there should be a way arround. My cameras are NX20 and Galaxy NX. Can anyone tell me the steps i should take in order to make the camera working properly with the mentioned lens? Thanks in advance.

Is this a mirror lens or a "normal" lens?
In my experience, when using non-Samsung lenses with adaptors on my NX cameras, the only option available is "A" (aperture priority), wherein the lens is manually stopped down and the camera automatically chooses an appropriate shutter speed depending on the chosen ISO … choosing a shutter speed directly is not an option.

Revision :-

Sorry for the mis-leading post
I just double-checked with my NX-5 with a Hexanon 40mm f/1.8 fitted on an adaptor and I can change the shutter speed in "M" (manual) mode.
With the histogram visible in the viewfinder it's quite a valid option

Thank you for answering me. The lens is of refractor type, not catadioptric ( mirror ). I did follow your advice, and indeed gained some control of the camera. Now gonna play with ISO in order to get an idea how it affects the shutter speed.

Thanks for the update. It was really helpful and useful. I finally and almost fully control the camera. God Bless people like you, who do not mind to share their knowledge and experience.

After playing with NX20, decided to try Galaxy NX. It allows to shoot in shutter speed mode. Not only i control the speed, but also ISO and exposure compensation. So, i guess it all depends on the model.
