Hey i just ordered an R5C! Now i need memory cards. I understand it has one slot for CFExpress and one normal SD card. I intend to buy an Angelbird 512mb Cfexpress card for one slot which will only be used for 8k video. The other slot i will use only for photos (i only do timelapses so no need for fast burst speeds or anything). So my question is can i use these SD cards as I already have 6 of them so would be good to be able to keep using them

SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB SDXC Memory Card up to 170MB/s, UHS-1, Class 10, U3, V30

I would go with cf express cards and only v90 SD cards, especially if you want to do burst shooting. You'll clear your buffer out faster and it'll allow you to transfer files to your computer much faster. In a 5-10 min session, I shot about 1,300 photos of birds and the R5 dumped the buffer super fast. Never underestimate fast media!

hey thanks, i dont need to do burst shooting. the cfexpress is for video only and the SD card for any normal slow shooting of stills i do

True but not relevant to the OP as clearly stated in the question.

Not true. The read speed of a decent V60 card is at worst a few % less than a V90 card. The difference is in the write speed.

So given the huge price difference, V60 is clearly the right choice.

When you review your photos their should be a small card symbol at the top right with the card number 1=CFE, 2=SD. It’s on the left of the shutter count.
I don’t have the 5c but all Canons have same menu system, so I’ll be very surprised if you can’t set up the cards the way you want. You may have chosen something that has greyed out the choices? Basically you can set the cards up to do whatever you want via the ‘record func+card/folder sel.’ Menu.

Thanks expro. I see the number now in playback which makes everything clearer.

In video mode its very easy to set one card to not be used but i still dont see an option to do the same when in photo mode. Im going to try digging through the manuel and see if im missing something important

EDIT: Worked it out, thanks again
