A beautiful flower!

For me, the framing is a bit tight. But that may be what you wanted - to emphasize the somewhat unusual shape of the petal.

Also, a little overexposed, since detail on the petal surface is lacking.

I originally had similar thoughts...

...unless you were exposing for (and focused on) the insect on the anther? In which case the framing and exposure may be what you were shooting for.

Re: Calla Lily

Hi, grsnovi,

Thank you for the feedback and for editing the photo. The insect landed on the flower when the timer went off, and that's why it's there. I thought it looked all right to have in the photo, but you make a good point about what I'm trying to show.

Re: Calla Lily

Hi Raymond, I wasn't suggesting an edit, I was only trying to show what I only saw once I zoomed in completely. - Gary

Re: Calla Lily

Give your shot some space, A blob of white confuses the meter, keep an eye on the histogram and practice till you get a perfect shot  Good luck.

Re: Calla Lily

I like the flower but it is over exposed.  Large areas of white need up to two stops less exposure.  The darker areas can then be brightened.  A lot of people love the black background.  I have found that making the background just a little brighter can make the subject stand out more than a fully black background.

I would have had to get a macro shot of the insect.
