baby spider lunch treat
8

I was about to remove a gnatt/fruit fly from the windowsill when I noticed it looked odd, so I ran and got my camera to see what it actually was... a baby jumping spider

As well as the macro lens there was a 20 extension tube attached... I need to get a raynox for more control, these are probably 50% crops

2nd one is a stack or 5 using helicon - b gave best results with these handheld shots

I found it again a couple hours later, fly was long gone

1st one is a stack or 3 using helicon b

Re: baby spider lunch treat

Well captured.  I like to find out what the spider is eating but it is not always possible.

I found this one this month.  It is the largest of this species I have ever seen or heard of.

I don't know if it is the same species as your baby spider.  This one is near 15 mm long!

This helps to show the color pattern and eye arrangement.

15mm! That’s massive, I’d probably run away, then pause and get a portrait lens 😀

I couldn’t even see mine without using a magnifying glass on a smudge that moved. A few mm at most. I bought a raynox250 this morning so it’ll likely be months before I see another and get to try it out

where is that spider from ?, mine was in the uk and I’ve only seen small jumping spiders here

I am in South East Queensland Australia.

That species of spider is normally very small.   It was a shock to see one that big.  I often see other jumping spiders eating them.

That’s would explain it, all that heat and summer sun makes them grow, in our wet and cold they shrink, a month from now I’ll need a microscope
