What are focal lengths of Pixel 7 Pro lenses?

That question is hard to answer from specs.

A recent thread says "the wide angle lens is maybe 23.4mm" (crop equivalent to 35mm film) and implies the telephoto lens is 117mm, but how about the ultrawide lens?

https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/66552794

GSM Arena says triple lenses (front) are:

50 MP, f/1.9, 25mm (wide), 1/1.31", 1.2µm, multi-directional PDAF, Laser AF, OIS
48 MP, f/3.5, 120mm (telephoto), 1/2.55", 0.7µm, multi-directional PDAF, OIS, 5x optical zoom
12 MP, f/2.2, 126˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.9", 1.25µm, AF

So the EXIF disagrees slightly with specs, 23.4 vs 25 and 117 vs 120. I suppose the ultrawide focal length can be deduced from field of view. Arithmetic works out to 12.1mm (equivalent).

Based on EXIF, images at 1x and 5x are closest to native lens resolution and probably best. Which one is better might depend on image content.

This post shows samples at close-to native resolution, where image quality looks best to me.

The 0.5x, 1x, and 5x images are the ones at close-to native resolution using each of the three front lenses. Here are the EXIF values with 35mm equivalents.

  • 0.5x = 1.95mm ~ 12.1mm equivalent
  • 1.0x = 6.81mm ~ 23.4mm
  • 5.0x = 19.0mm ~ 117mm (5x "optical zoom" is not credible)

What is the closest focusing distance for each lens?  Has anyone experimented with it?

I don't have a Pixel 7 Pro, but it seems the distance is different for each of the three lenses, and in macro mode the smartphone transitions between lenses based on zoom setting.
