EOS 2000D

Hi. New here. I used to have a sony Alpha but when Sony discontinued this series the lenzes woukd not fit the new models. That's not realy cricket. I have decided on Canon hopfully the lenses are standard.

I have looked on the Amazon website and the same camera apears twice with difrent prices and descriptions. Can anyone tell me if they are just the same please.

Pablo56,

When I click on your first choice, it says that the product is unavailable and they don't know if it will ever be in stock again, so there is no pint in comparing them.

I did notice that the second choice comes with a case, so that might account for any difference in price.

Did you have a budget in mind, or how much you would be willing to spend?

PS: It looks like the Canon T7 (the 2000D} uses the EF/EF-S lens mount. That being the case, there are literally dozens and dozens of lenses to choose from.

I hate to break it to you, but Canon is moving to mirrorless cameras as well.  So you are going to run into the same issues with new lenses.   The 2000D uses the old SLR based EF mount, which is likely never going to have another lens made for it.

Re: EOS 2000D

Both links work fine for me.

No, it's not about Wifi or Bluetooth. There is only one version of the 2000D, and I don't think Canon makes any wifi accessories for cameras without (unlike Nikon).

The two different links are odd; they're both sold by Canon and appear the saem, although (as you probably know) the more expensive one has more photos and descriptions.... hmm. Odd.

Re: EOS 2000D

I have never thought of a budget. I subose around £600 to £800 possibly a bit more if it is good, but I don't want to have to throw away Thousands on all my extra lenzes and external flashes. This is what happened with the Sony Alpha series. Can't remeber what the following series was, but it did not support my lenzes. Do Canon cameras change their fittings every time they come out with a new model.

As for cost. If I can be guarenteed that I would not loose lenses, I would want to get additional ones 70 - 300mm, higher if possible and fish eye. External flashes possibly 2 of. I had a programmable plug in that could be set to take any number of picturtes with an initial delay and a delay between each one. I liked that one alot.

Pablo,

When I wanted to upgrade my camera, I bought a Canon T8i, and am very happy with it.

I do not know what kind of mount your Sony camera used, so I don't know if the lenses you have will work with the Canon EF or ED/S mount; but you can get a T8i body only for $749.00.

B&H Photo sells them (that's where I bought mine).

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1546030-REG/canon_3924c001_eos_rebel_t8i_dslr.html

Like I said earlier, there are literally dozens and dozens of E and EF/S lenses out there. The EF lens mount was introduced in 1987, and EF/S mount was introduced in 2003. Most Canon Rebel cameras will use both.

PS: One of the T8i's Scene Modes is Fisheye - so you wouldn't necessarily have to buy a special lens.

It also has a feature that lets you take a number of continuous pictures with a delay between each picture (I can't remember if it is a 2 second delay, or a 10 second delay).

If I went for a 4000D could I use something like

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Shutter-Release-Intervalometer-Control-Digital-Black/dp/B078SPD9Z1/ref=asc_df_B078SPD9Z1/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=214460736935&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16936347269138252165&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006910&hvtargid=pla-448030416198&psc=1

I have had a similar on my Sony Alpha. Also what lens attachements are avalable? I want to get a 70m - 300m and a wirless remote flash. This was a very versitile controller and extensivly used.

Th EF lens catalog is very big, the biggest, matched only by Nikon's F-mount.

What Sony lenses do you have?  Are they Alpha mount SLR lenses?  You can use those on Sony mirrorless with an adapter.

Your budget seems a bit small to be rebuilding a whole system.  Might be better to find something that can use your lenses.   Not sure any of these dirt cheap Canon SLR are better than the last of Sony's SLRs anyway.

£600 to £800 is equivalent to $736 to $982 in U.S. dollars.

You can buy a Canon SL3 with an 18-55 lens for $749.00.

That would get you started with an EF EF/S mount that you could build on.

That's nothing to sneeze at.
