Few old pictures (and memories)...
15

Well, with my wife we were recently recalling our school trip (yes, we were classmates at the technical high school) to East Germany. We took that trip in March 1966 by bus from Prague to Dresden-Leipzig-Potsdam-Berlin. It was a very memorable trip, especially for such 19 years old teenagers.

On the first picture we (myself and my future wife) are "returning" from the West Berlin, while few others are just heading there . On the second picture is our entire class (minus a guy to took the picture) plus several teachers who accompanied us. But the guy on the left side was not our teacher. And no one new him. And on every picture he was hiding his face. Guess, who he was and what purpose he has to accompany us .

I can guess pretty well where the guy was from but don't know the exact acronym.

Thanks KPM2. Those disillusioned was I and my (now) wife . And why not, if we were "returning" from the West! Well, even a sparrow would not dare to escape via Brandenburg gate .

Thanks Alex.

And regarding the acronym, it's very simple: Štb = КГБ

Thanks RBIV. Well, such 56 years old pictures have almost magic values. No matter whether they are color or just B&W, analog or digital, CD-AF or PD-AF! I doubt that some one will be looking at my pictures some 50 years from now. No way .

Thank you KEG! Well, they were taken by our class mate, Milan. If I am correct, he used the Pentax Spotmatic at that time.

Well, yes, not a spy just an agent of the secret police. His purpose was to listen what the teachers (hopefully only them ) might say, what might not be in a line with the communist propaganda. No doubt that such a regime was not sustainable.

Very nice Peter and the clarity is very good as well!  It's great you and your wife have them to enjoy especially after all those years.  Somebody took very good care of them

Thank you Mina. Well, yes, we married 2 years after the graduation while I was still a student at the university. In a month we will celebrate the 54-th anniversary . And those pictures (and you are right, my wife "manages" them) were taken by one of our classmate, who later became a well known cinematographer in Toronto. We as well left Czechoslovakia (some 31 years ago) for Canada.
