Two Sunsets
1

This past weekend I happened to see two sunsets. The first time was when I was at the beach on Saturday and the second time on the following Sunday. I have been very busy; just finished my post processing of these beach images. I'll show more photos later.

Photo No. 1 - At the beach I was too far away from the shore, so I had to use the telephoto lens. I was late catching this sunset.

Photo No. 2 - I did the best that I could. It was not long before the red glow disappeared. I never would have made it to the shore line fast enough.

Photo No. 3 - Coming home on Sunday I took this through the window while being a passenger in a car.

Photo No. 4 - I managed to get one more, before a bunch of trees blocked any further views of this sunset. I think I like the way the bright sunlight was offset like this. It's kind of different. I was forced to take this as is, because we were traveling quite fast. I was glad to have gotten these two.

Two Sunsets - Thanks

Thanks.  Sunsets are amazing in that they can be so different each time.

Re: Show Your Snaps...November 14, 2022

The first two photos look so inviting; what a nice area you live in. I just love all of those green and blue colors. From those images, I would imagine the fishing must be good too. Is that a moth or a butterfly? I can never remember which one is which, without looking it up. Is that another heron? It's hard to tell because it turned its beak to the side. A little edit: I see you wrote "night heron", so heron it is.

You took these with the Canon M50. I also enjoy taking pictures with mine also. If I don't want to carry a lot of weight and I'm happy with focal lengths between 15mm and 200mm, that's what I like to do at times too.

Zoo Flowers
2

In early October I got a chance to go to our local zoo in Portland. We've had such warm weather that there were many flowers blooming. I hope you like these. There were so many varieties.

Zoo Beaver
1

Beavers were very common one time in our area until the fur trappers killed them off.  But here's one that is doing well in our local zoo in Portland, Oregon.  How do you like this ISO12800 photo?  You can tell that it is a beaver and not a nutria by the shape of its tail.  The beaver has a paddle type of tail that you can see.  The nutria has a rounded tail.

Zoo Turtles

You might know that I've only seen turtles in the wild once in Oregon.  But I see them at the zoo all of the time.  Here's one that I liked.

Dry Weather
1

We had a very dry summer and early autumn. Before the rains began, I thought I would check out one of our reservoirs. It was very low in water. If we get a normal amount of precipitation this winter, it should fill back up.

Photo No. 1 - Where I'm standing was once a lake filled with water.

Photo No. 2 - I walked around different parts.

Photo No. 3 - This is actually a stream that helps fill the lake.

Photo No. 4 - I had fun walking around.

Photo No. 5 - And around....

Photo No. 6 - All of that was covered with water.

Photo No. 7 - This too was under the lake.

Photo No. 8 -  It's something we can see only during the dry season.

Photo No. 9 - More barren landscapes....

Photo No. 10 - Looking at it again....

Photo No. 11 - Now I'm moving along the lake, walking north.

Photo No. 12 - It's kind of like a desert without the plants.

Photo No. 13 - Moving along some more....  A pier was extended out for the boats.

Photo No. 14 - People swim in this section.  Powered watercraft are not allowed here.

Photo No. 15 - When there's enough water some people jump off of this pier, even although it's illegal.  But not now obviously.

Photo No. 16 - From the top of this pier we can see how much water has receded.

We received a few inches of rain this month.  But we have unusual dry weather again for about a week.  I hope the rains come back.

Dig,

I do too. Your photo draws the viewer's eyes to the center of the picture and reminds him that the sun, while still the cause, is merely a player in what's going on. The glory is not the sun, but the color he ( or she) produces.

Beavers are being gradually reintroduced here in the UK. We used to have them too (but think several thousand years ago). Apparently they're amazing for biodiversity.

Zoo Beaver - Thanks

Thanks for the reply. That's great that they are being reintroduced into the UK. Also the UK is making efforts to add back their forests.

I think the beavers are being reintroduced back into our wild areas too. But I've never seen one outside of the zoo.

Those are beautiful photos. I love the colors in the bright sun and the blue sky. Those large trees are majestic.  Oh...also...that's a nice capture of the moon too.
