Updated Canon Connect

I had not used it in awhile thought I'd play with it, when it opened I found it had been updated.

It has a much cleaner interface and making a connection is much easier. If you follow the simplified instruction it connects every time.

There are 2 new options, upload to canon's cloud storage or to print to a canon printer otherwise it's pretty much the same as the old version.

There is no transfer of raw files but there are options to maintain the original size or to reduce the size of the JPEG. There is another canon app that you'll need to upload to the cloud but it will direct you to the appropriate store to download it if not detected.

The only problem I had last night was in registering the camera to the cloud.

It does transfer RAW files.

Not through the Auto transfer but if look through the app on the photos in camera and choose which to download.

Thanks, I guess I missed that have to explore the app further.

I was just so pleased that the interface wasn't so cluttered and that synching it with my camera and Tab A was much easier and quicker

Re: Updated Canon Connect

The one item on my wish list is something a little more prominent through the camera, especially on mirrorless, that is a clear indication that the app is connected to the camera.  So often I turn the camera on and start shooting and have forgotten to start the app.  There is probably something that I'm missing but the one thing that I look for and again oftentimes forget to look for is the GPS symbol and whether or not it's blinking.  It's just not prominent enough.

The new version of the app only works on Android 10 and higher so users with older Android phones & tablets may not see it.

When I loaded it on to a compatible phone I found that, with an M6 II the front screen is different but the remote shooting screen is the same as before. I couldn’t see any new features for shooting.

Re: Updated Canon Connect

Sorry to piggy back off this thread but when importing JPEGs through the Canon Camera Connect app to iOS, does the image captured date come through for other people?

I've had the M6 Mark II for about a year and whenever I've imported images, they show up in iOS Photos with the imported date, not the image captured date. GPS works all fine. I've checked the images on an EXIF viewer and even the image captured date seems to be overwritten to the imported date when it gets imported via the app.

Interested to know if I'm the only one this is an issue for - means that I have to take my laptop wherever I go with my camera, not particularly helpful for a casual/travel photographer that wants to take pics to upload to social media etc!
