Canon M7 as the last M series camera?
6

By my estimation, Canon made eight entry level cameras and three enthusiast cameras in the EOS M (mobility) series.  It filled a need for photographers and vloggers.  Can we ask for the M7 prosumer model to be the finishing touch if the plan is to discontinue the M series?  The M7 with borrowed features from the R7 and available for the lower price of the M6 Mark ii.  That would spark new life in the M series or be the crown on the M series.

About as much  chance of that happening as USA winning the FIFA world cup.

Be careful with your reply, since the american women's soccer team has already won the FIFA world cup 4 times

Sure, no harm in hoping.

IMHO, a last hurrah M-series camera would be a Canon M50 mkiii (or a Canon M40?). Besides more subject specific auto focus tracking options, not sure what new features would make the most sense.

Perhaps adding the technology that reduces warping when panning while capturing a moving subject (e.g., stacked sensor)?

Note: If my description is incorrect, feel free to correct it.

Would like a weather sealed body; however, most EF-M lenses are not weather sealed.

Would like IBIS; however, not sure of Canon's IBIS technology would be compatible with the electronics built into the EF-M mount.

If the M50 mkii is the M-series hurrah camera, then I just might tempted to purchase a new M50 mkii at about the time manufacturing is rumored to be discontinued. At which point, I will have three Canon M-series cameras that should keep me using my Canon M-lenses for a long time. If not, no regrets.

It be a better business decision to make all your favorite lenses in R mount instead.

Get a grip on it, there will be no successor model after M6 ii!

I am okay with it, but it is the end of my relation with Canon, goodbye!

It's a lovely idea, but it won't happen.

I'd buy one in an instant.

I agree, I’d like to buy a retirement camera M7.  The option is to switch to Sony 6xxx series.

I used Canon dlsr camera since the first Rebel and 10D up through the 70D. Burned out on the weight and front/back focus issues. Bought into the M system with an M5, which I still have and a collection of M lenses plus EF adapter. Overall, for everything but action pics it worked just fine. However, I missed having longer reach and dabbled with M 4/3 via used bodies and lenses. Never looked back given the lens selection and features of the top M 4/3 cameras. The smaller sensor combined with the right post processing software has not been an issue for my needs. Of course, yours may vary. No interest in switching to any full frame system. Sorry Canon, etc. FF either does not offer enough for me to switch systems, too bulky, too expensive. The GAS tank is empty.

Well the World Cup is going to be played in Qatar . Unfortunately the M7 just isn’t going to happen and the M system will likely be no more by the time the next World Cup is contested.

Guys, the M mount is not dead. Canon just said there's still a place for the M system to exist.

Maybe they don't make a ton of lenses for it, but that doesn't mean it's not a relevant system anymore.

I had the A6500 and the A6600. I'll take my M6ii over those two Sony's every day. No question.

A completely tricked-out M5II would be a dream camera.

R7-level AF and sensor in that tiny package?

What’s not to love?

When was the last update to that series?  It seems to me Sony is concentrating on their full frame cameras.

My guess is that IBIS adds a lot of thickness behind the sensor, the current M bodies would need to grow a bit to be able to host that.

I don`t need a M7, my M6 II is more than good enough. But I`m missing a real good and fast standard zoom lens!
