What will the 35mm and 50mm crop modes resolution be on the next X100 if 40MP?

Anyone know how to work this out? Or can quickly do it and let us know? I think this camera might be my way back to Fuji as I don't have 23mm and 35mm on Sony. Assuming it gets the 40MP sensor of course.

I still love using the old Fuji XE2 with pancakes like the 27mm f2.8 and Pergear 10mm f5.6. It is so convenient and useful for stealthy street shooting. Instead of buying bigger lenses for Sony, the X100V follow up could cover 23mm and 35mm. Even the 50mm crop mode should be high enough resolution (it seemed a bit low in the past).

I need a return to a 23mm eye point EVF, which Fuji haven't done for many years on a rangefinder style body, but maybe it will happen. I might even return to JPG with it as it will have my beloved Nostalgic Negative and Classic Negative and Acros Red. I think I would be likely to use the triple film sim bracketing for the first time as there is a major contrast shift between the two color sims.

Let's have a quick try at working this out

23mm = 40 MP

35mm is 52% smaller = 19.2MP

50mm is 117% smaller than 23 = my thinking is flawed 😁

You need to chuck in a square root but I'm not sure where!

When the Bentley Mulsanne was launched the specification described the power as "adequate" with no further elaboration.  When the turbocharged version came out this changed to "more than adequate", which is probably the way to think about this question too.

Well without a calculator I can tell you that 35 will be a little under 20 megapixels and 46mm will be exactly 10 megapixels, so 50mm will be a little less.

Thank you. Almost 20 MP is great for the 35mm crop (my 16MP XE2 is still plenty when I nail focus). If the 50 is around 9MP it would be useable in a pinch. But really I would think of an X100 6 as a dual focal length camera. Saves me buying 2 prime lenses making it justifiable.

It has a flip screen now and weather resistance. It will have all the film sims. They should iron out the common defects with the X100V. I just need that EVF eye point improvement and I think I will be in. Viva la JPG.
