Canon m50 Bad

I had just bought a new canon m50 and I HATE it.

The photos are extremely bad and not sharp, and I feel like I could take better pictures with my phone. I spent about 1500 USD on it (camera + 2 lenses + insurance) and I am so very disappointed by it.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong but I just hate it, I have previously filmed with other cameras such as canon 500d and 800d (Didn't own them but the cameras of friends) and the pictures were much much better.

What should I do?

The dynamic range of new cameras are much better than older cameras, but as a result, it may look like the image lacks contrast, but that is by design. By having low contrast plus lots of dynamic range, you have a lot more room for adjusting exposure, color, and contrast in post production.

I too was disappointed at first upgrading from my original canon rebel which seemed to have much punchier/contrasty images, but after realizing why, I found that I can extract MUCH more data from the files of my SL3/M50 than I could ever imagine with the 300D

You might have a lemon so post some photos to help the forum members see what’s going on otherwise we are all completely in the dark and won’t be able to help.

Maybe the OP is too busy using their bridge camera to photograph their house 😉

I thought bridge cameras are only good for photographing bridges.

Now I’m extremely confused. And this is not the first time after reading posts in this forum 🤔

Re: Canon m50 Bad

I myself prefer the original M and Rebel SL1 to the M50. The colors from the original M looks more pleasing to my taste. Seems to me the old 18 mp sensor is the best sensor in terms of colors.

I shoot raw and use Canon DPP with my own Picture Style to develop the photos. I shoot mainly portraits.

Now i use both M and Rebel to shoot still and the M50 for video.

What should I do?

Canon M50 is actually a very decent camera, with good control, good JPG processing and good Canon colour science. It is compact, it is lightweight to carry. If you have experienced badly, perhaps you should post photos to prove your point instead of trolling with no evidence attached.

The only think i hated Canon is how they market their products, not their camera and lenses.

Canon M50 MKII Is Excellent
3

I take pictures with both the Canon T7i (800D) and Canon M50 MKII cameras all of the time, and they are both excellent.  I have three (3) Canon T7i (800D) cameras and two (2) Canon M50 MKII cameras.  I had to discover workarounds or things to change in the menu before I was satisfied, but now everything is fine.  As far as image quality, I cannot see any differences. If it wasn't for the EXIF data, I would not know one from another when looking at photographs.

If the OP is not trolling, then he or she needs to respond with details and examples, so maybe we could help.  Many problems people have with cameras are simply "user error" and it has nothing to do with the gear.

Many of my photo examples from both cameras are shown on the Rebel forum on the Show Your Snaps thread that I host once a week.
