Happy Halloween
1

Happy Halloween everyone. I will start this thread off with a few Halloween pictures. Later, I'll show more photos. I'm still working through my backlog of summer images.

Photo No. 1 - Here we are at Papas Pumpkin Patch, south of the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area.

Photo No. 2 - I just love seeing these brightly colored pumpkins.

Photo No. 3 - Taking pictures of the gourds is neat too.

Photo No. 4 - More little decorative pumpkins....

Photo No. 5 - And finally we see Papas on the box. Someone had already picked some pumpkins for people to take. They were all ready to load into the wheelbarrow.

Photo No 2 - Swirling around....

Photo No 3 - Again....

Photo No 4 - More again....

Photo No 5 - Again at the lower level....

Photo No 6 - Up high....

Photo No 7 - Again....

Photo No 8 - Flags were rolled up.

Photo No 9 - They continued that way....

Photo No 10 - We start to see the marching band.

Photo No 11 - Here we are.

Photo No 12 - With horn instruments....

Photo No 13 - Almost done....

Photo No 14 - And my last one....  I hope you liked the series.

Kingsbury water park.

Hi all,

So many lakes to walk around, after a week there was still others untouched.

After the storm, the weather had been good till this arrived. (Aperture f/7.1 ~~ (SS): 1/250 ~~ ISO 125 ~~ EC: 0 ~~ PASM Mode: Aperture Priority ~~ Metering: Evaluative ~~ Focus Type: One Shot ~~ FL: 70mm ~~ Lens: Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD ~~ Camera ID: Canon EOS 7D Mark II).

There's still wildflowers dotted about, temps. were high for this time of year. (Aperture f/8 ~~ (SS): 1/160 ~~ ISO 500 ~~ EC: 0 ~~ PASM Mode: Manual ~~ Focus Type: One Shot ~~ FL: 300mm ~~ Lens: Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD ~~ Camera ID: Canon EOS 7D Mark II ~~ Notes: Evaluative metering used for initial start point).

Male Gadwall, these fly in from the continent for the winter, the patterning on the feathers is amazing. (Aperture f/7.1 ~~ (SS): 1/500 ~~ ISO 500 ~~ EC: 0 ~~ PASM Mode: Custom ~~ Metering: Partial ~~ Focus Type: AI Servo ~~ FL: 600mm ~~ Lens: Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD ~~ Camera ID: Canon EOS 7D Mark II).

An untouched fungi, unbelievable. Head about 5-6 inches across. (Aperture f/11 ~~ (SS): 1/250 ~~ ISO 400 ~~ EC: -0.33 ~~ PASM Mode: Aperture Priority ~~ Metering: Evaluative ~~ Focus Type: One Shot ~~ FL: 147mm ~~ Lens: Tamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD ~~ Camera ID: Canon EOS 7D Mark II).

Re: Kingsbury water park.

I just love the first photo with the bright yellow leaves and the gray-blue water and the somewhat dark background. That's a beautiful yellow flower. The male Gadwall is sharp. I see you used the Tamron 150-600mm lens for that one. That's great that you got the fungus without blemishes. This autumn I hope to find some too. When the leaves fall it seems to make it a better environment for the fungi.

Chalk Art Festival Dancing

In September I went to a chalk art festival. In addition to lots of photo ops with that, I also got the opportunity to take pictures of these girls dancing.  I decided to show 20 of them here, but it shouldn't take up too much space for Dpreview since these are all resized.  It's my understanding that we are no longer limited to 10 pictures.  If you find these are too many at one time, please let me know.  I appreciate your feedback.  I hope you like them.

Photo No. 1 - I first saw the girls exit this building where the chalk art was being done on this sidewalk.

Photo No. 2 - They walked over to the nearby university.  I followed them to see what was going on.  There was a crowd of people.  I squeezed in among them to be able to take these pictures.  The lighting was mixed since we were in an area of trees, but the camera gave me the correct exposure most of the time without too much post processing adjustment.

Re: Show Your Snaps...October 31, 2022

Oh yeah...the Grackle.  I like taking closeups of them too near where I take pictures of the wood ducks. That's neat to see the shore bird.  If a person is patient and sits along the shore sometimes they will come close. The third photo must be a heron, I suppose...I like it. The Bananaquit is a bird I hadn't heard of before.  I like those birds that have the color yellow in them.

Re: Kingsbury water park.

Great pics mocha123!

Great find with the fungi! In my experience 95% of the large mushrooms I come across have been destroyed, I guess either by young children or some hungry animal.

Re: Kingsbury water park.

Hi Digirame, Thank You.

Where I was stood in the first photo was in brilliant sunshine as the storm had passed overhead, luckily I was close to some bird hides when the storm broke and sheltered till the deluge stopped, the photo was of the storm moving on, the colour of the sky was strange indeed.

It surprised me how many wildflowers I came across on my walks.

The Tamron 150-600 is like yours a G1, maybe I got lucky but the sharpness has always impressed me especially when I did an AF Microadjustment on it, even at f6.3 @ 600mm it's impressive, you just have to nail focus at such a wide aperture and long focal length.

I was lucky with the Fungus so many have been feasted upon when I reach them.
