Bought a Powershot G6
1

Lately I've been interested in vintage point and shoot cameras. I picked up a G6 with a bunch of accessories (case, battery charger, cf card reader, etc) for $15 plus shipping. It was marked as untested. I charged the battery and the camera seems to work fine.   I wanted something with a CCD sensor that also could shoot raw.

My normal rig is a Sony A7rii, but I like the idea of taking an older point and shoot with me on my next trip, just for fun. Not sure if it will be the G6 or not -- it's a tad bigger than some of the other contenders. I wondered if anyone else out there still shoots regularly with a camera of this vintage?

Re: Bought a Powershot G6

I know it probably costs a bit more and probably isn't as retro but wouldn't G7 mk II because it is using a 6 year old sensor kind of count as retro also?

I used to own a G2 and it was a lovely cam, pretty nice raws at ISO 50.

In my experience at least I would try to keep it as much as possible at base ISO.

I do. A vintage man myself, I find a charm in Canon G series. There is something "Leica M3 like" in the package. Most times I carry a G15 in an unconspicuous little bag, ready to use.
