Great deal - lowest price I have ever seen for the body with 1 year Canon warranty.

Most Canon refurbs are like-new, but it's a good idea to test extensively all modes, including bluetooth ability to sync with your phone.

I've bought 3 refurb bodies and 8 refurb lenses from Canon over the years (2 with M200 kits). Out of those I got one badly decentered 15-45 kit lens and one m6ii body whose battery door switch failed after a week. Canon replaced both within a week at no cost to me. Their replacement procedure is straightforward and efficient.

I imagine Canon is trying to dump all new and refurb M bodies stock so they can end warranty support as soon as they can, in a year or two. The M200 black kit is on sale for $349 and even the black M50ii kit, which rarely happens, although it's out of stock.

I ordered one last week when I saw the sale price. I've been hunting for a deal of them to upgrade my Mk I.

Just received mine yesterday. Seems to work fine. Quite a bit snappier than the Mk 1.

Ordered 2. 1 at 549, 2nd at 466 with loyalty program.
got 1 with only around 300 shutter counts.

the 2nd box, came OPEN IN THE BOTTOM & EMPTY!!! Came with FedEx Ground.

now have to wait for canon’s claim with FedEx and FedEx’s investigation to get my money back.

meanwhile, ordered another 1 with overnight shipping instead, and will send back the 549 one.

Back again.

Now both models black and silver at $549
Also, many other lenses are on sale too.
I suppose this sale is only for today since this is the lowest they get.

Yes, these are crazy low prices we've never seen before.  You could buy the Canon branded EF  - EOS M adapter for $118, the EF-S 55-250 IS STM for $99, and the EF-S 10-18mm IS STM for $149, add those to a M50ii kit for $399, and 22mm f2 for $119, and build a complete system for a total of about $900 - the cost of an R10 body alone!

I saw the refurb M6 II on sale early this morning myself, and ordered one.  What pushed me over the edge on this one were the following factors:

  • I like having a 2nd body along at times so I don’t have to change lenses, but I find it really troublesome to have 2 bodies that are different (in my case, M6 II and M5).  Now I will have 2 identical bodies.
  • I wanted a “backup” for my original M6 II body, since I intend to use the M system for quite a while.
  • Larry Rexley’s observation in a different thread in which he noted that I had a bunch of M lenses, and thus a back-up body would be wise.  (Thanks Larry - for the great suggestion, and also for helping me spend money - and not for the first time!
  • And of course, the price.

I’ve never bought a refurb before, so I am hoping for the best, and will check it out thoroughly.  In any case, my original M6 II works just fine.

I was happy that the refurb didn’t come with another lens that would only duplicate what I already have, but disappointed that it did not come with an EVF, which I like having most of the time.  I was able to find a lightly used one on eBay for $99, so that solved the problem for me, albeit at somewhat increased cost for the whole deal.

Mmmm, and that refurb M200 looks very tempting as well, but I am telling myself that I need to spend more time using my gear and less time acquiring more ……..

These are some crazy good deals. If I hadn't already expended all of my 'new camera gear' leverage with my wife in getting my refurb M6ii earlier this month I'd probably be seriously looking at getting a 15-45mm (and send back until I got a good copy! ) and that 55-250mm STM. I'd rather use my next leverage on that EVF.

Heck, if the M6ii deal hadn't come through earlier and it was just the R deals now, those deals may have caused me to jump ship to R (gasp). An RP, 35mm f1.8 and 85mm f2 for $1,200?!

Canon must really be trying to burn through current inventory before the rumored releases in February 2023...

I think this might be signs of the incoming recession.
Amazon’s Jeff Bezos sounded the alarm reporting that sells were slow.
Deals like these would have made a big buzz in these forums or over the deal sites but looks like people are not interested in cameras anymore or unable to buy.
It is telling that Canon still has many of the items in stock despite the fire sale.

My thought as well... in the 2 years I've been with M equipment and on this forum, there has never been a fire sale like this --- it looks like they are 'dumping' equipment. A year ago I'd have jumped on so much stuff with such a sale --- but already having a large collection of M lenses and bodies, there is nothing I need to fill any gaps or even as a backup.

The refurb prices in many cases are lower right now than I've sold some of the same cameras and lenses on eBay in the past year!

Re: Back again. Adding M6ii to M50. Stacking question

I jumped for an M6 ii. looks like chrome sold out since weekend so black will do fine

It will join 30-month old M50 and an 18-150 plus three adapted EF-S from 10mm to 250mm, and some old film era lenses.   That’s a remarkable kit that doesn’t feel like it fully grew in cost with inflation since I was first looking at a 24mm or 200mm for film use 40 years ago - photo quality responsibility will be on my technique not on the kit

I picked the M6ii over an M50ii mainly for focus bracketing ability, less so for compact camera and larger sensor size    I’ve read great posts here about using focus bracketing with the 18-150 and the 100L macro  and using dpp helicon affinity or other software to complete a stack

what other lenses work?  I’ll try my EF-S 35/2.8 macro and find out     Is this possible with the 55-250?    Are there tips or tricks for use with other adapted EF or EF-S lenses?  Thanks all

Congratulations on the M6ii, it's a great camera, for refined features it has more to offer than the M50ii.

There is a huge repository of information about using various lenses with the M system in general, and the m6ii in particular, so it is worth searching the forum. Unfortunately the dpreview forums are more of a 'chat format' and not an organized repository of information you can easily reference, so much of the best threads are lost to the annals of history after a time.

The EF-S 55-250 is a great lens to use with the m6ii, it's quite sharp and there are even some teleconverters that work with it, and you can get a replacement rear mount that will allow it to use 3rd party EF-mount teleconverters (but not the Canon ones whose optics stick out in front).

+2 Big congrats on the new cam!

Focus Bracketing has worked with every lens I’ve tried, even if they’re not on the list.
