Hello,

I'm a happy owner of a Pixel 7 (not the pro), which I purchased to carry when travelling. I'm VERY impressed by JPEG image quality.

Since when using my real cameras I shoot only raw, I tried to shoot raw with the Pixel 7.

I'm a long timer DxO user, but DxO doesn't accept the Pixel 7 raws. So, I used On1 Photo Raw.

When loading a raw file, the default result is extremely poor. I have to work hard to do better than the jpegs. Is it because ON1 doesn't have yet the Pixel 7 profile, and applies a "neutral" process to the images?

Hi André,

you have to use the latest version of Lightroom to get the correct colours (just released this week). I have an older version on my Mac and the colours are very pale. Correcting manually is near to impossible.

The Android (and iOS) version of Adobe Lightroom can be used as freeware (with limited functions). I ended up doing the RAW to JPG conversion on the phone with some basic manual corrections (if necessary). For further editing you can still use your PC/Mac AFTER converting to JPG in phone.

In my opinion it's worth shooting RAW as google Pixel hat stacked RAW combined out of several images (comparable to Apple's ProRAW and Samsung's ExpertRAW). Those RAWs generally have great colours and are more usable than the RAWs of most other smartphones.

Good luck!

Thomas

Thank you Thomas. I'll give it a try.

Wow, that was fast. Thanks for the info, Thomas. The support for the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro was released Oct. 27th for LR Classic, it seems. I can confirm that colors are now spot on for all the cameras of the 7 Pro.

You also can use a "free" (unpaid) version of Lightroom Classic for PC/Mac, I think. AFAIK you'll be still able to import and export pictures (including conversion from RAW to JPG) and to do some basic editing in the "Library" tab - access to the advanced editing in the "Develop" tab is limited to paying subscribers, though.

Second that!

Android version of Adobe Lightroom can convered RAW in free version ? I think I try but can't and so I uninstall the app. If so I must do something wrong

I use Capture One and push saturation to 90 than color is basically correct.

But lens distortion is not corrected. As pixel is not officially supported by C1, I guess it won't be fixed

Lightroom correct lens disortion for Pixel RAW ? Do u use "auto tone" on it ?

Supported lenses (adobe.com)

In this page, pixel 7 is not listed as supported lens by Adobe
You have to look at the camera support. All "cameras" of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro are listed here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html

Adobe matches the colors to all the cameras with these profiles and applies the lens correction information embedded in the DNGs.

Phil
so lens support and camera support is seperate in Adobe world

And that makes sense IMO. Camera support concerns color profiling and is sensor dependent, lens support concerns lens correction (distortion, aberrations etc.). But if the cameras provide embedded lens correction info in their DNG files, further correction with separate Adobe lens profiles might not be necessary.

Is it possible for u to show some Lightroom processed pixel 7 RAW with blue sky and green grass (trees).

I have never used Lightroom but since pixel 7 is not supported by c1, i would have to consider switching. I am picky about the color of blue sky and green grass in nature

Thanks

Well, if you're picky, it of course all depends how you continue to develop colors after importing to defaults. That's what's RAW is about IMO.

In this vein here some samples from the recent days, two of them with an alternative rendition (processed to taste).

#2 - default (only version):

Thank you so much

blue and green color is ok to me and it serve my main purpose of reducing over-sharpening of pixel jpeg

Lightroom still have 30 days trial. I guess need to register for an Adobe account first

I would wait a bit after I take more pics with my Pixel 7 and have more RAW file to work with

I never like subscription but may have to yield, no other software support phone as much as Lightroom to my knowledge.

As i said, c1 no lens correction for Pixel RAW
