I do have the kit lens. I knew I wanted the EVF and it was cheaper to get them as a kit than buy the body and EVF separately. I'll be using the kit lens for awhile but I think the 22mm will be my first purchase just because I want that compact setup.

I did get the adapter to use a couple lenses I already had, but I'm guessing it won't see a ton of use once I start upgrading to M lenses.

Yup, the teensy 22 is simply a fun little lens.  You'll want to take it anywhere!

I don’t think you can spend too much money on the EF-M mount, as I own almost all Canon lenses for that mount, plus the Sigma portrait lens, and they cost less together than just one RF lens.

I think this always needs to be put in perspective, and it is somehow exaggerated here, but it is what it is, and some people here feel “betrayed” by Canon.

Do I love the EF-M mount? Heck, yes! Does the future suck for EF-M? Yeah, kind of. Will I now get a second EF-M mount body, just in case my M6 Mark II will break? Probably not (but who knows).

I agree

unfortunently true

Probably not (but who knows).

I have 3 Ms, not sure I will need more.

my next focus is RF 15-35, 24-70 and 70-200.

Well that depends on which RF lens you are thinking about, but in general, that’s my feeling as well. I’m sure that some/most/all of the RF glass is great, but thus far I have not been disappointed by the M lenses (including the kit versions), so don’t see the need (for me) to spend a lot more. Then again, I am not a pro.

The latter question is one of my 2 current camera dilemmas. I really like M, and despite my misgivings about its future, have not given up “investing” in it. Thus I recently got the 32mm when the price dropped.

Getting another M body is on my mind at the moment. I have - and really like - the M6 II, and I also got an M5 on sale a while back, as a 2nd body. I’ve thought about getting an M200 as a pocketable M mount, but — I really don’t like having multiple camera bodies that operate differently. Every time I switch between the M6 II and the M5, I find it a struggle.

So, to solve that problem, and to hedge my bets on the future of M, I am considering getting a 2nd M6 II. And/or a Laowa 9mm.

I have been pondering of getting the Canon M6 Mark II camera. I have the Canon T2i camera.

I know Canon M6 Mark II camera has been discontinued. I wonder if I should get the camera or not. I saw some good deals that I could not ignore. On the other hand, Canon might come with something better. It seems like many who have the Canon M6 Mark II camera are happy with it.

I can say without a doubt that the M6ii is light years beyond your T2i in image quality and capability. It should also be able to use all your lenses with the EF to EF-M mount adapter.  Judging on how long you seem to keep your cameras for (T2i was released in 2010) I'm not sure that you could go wrong with an M6ii.

The alternatives are to either go all in on being future proof for about 4 times the cost (R7 with the 18-150mm) or jumping to another system altogether.

The M6II is a great camera if you can live with two of its biggest shortcomings: no weather-sealing & no IBIS. Personally I think it is a great engineering compromise, because of the reduced size which I value more in this body than extra features.

I know Canon M6 Mark II camera has been discontinued. I wonder if I should get the camera or not. I saw some good deals that I could not ignore.

The M6II feels like a Canon pro camera crammed into the tiniest package possible while still maintaining the distinct Canon feel. You already know that you are buying into a potentially dead system, but the benefit is that you exactly know what you get. If there will be future lens & camera releases, it will be rather minor ones. The only risks I see are the official repairability in the distant future and the dependency on the second-hand market if you like to buy new (in the worst case when your body should get damaged).

I do not want to feed any GAS, but if I could get a good deal, I would just get a second body without any hesitation. The only reason I will not buy a second EF-M body is that I got already more than enough (but without a second EF-M body when my M6II would break I would have to get rid of all EF-M lenses, and some of them are pretty decent).

On the other hand, Canon might come with something better. It seems like many who have the Canon M6 Mark II camera are happy with it.

The alternative Canon already revealed is the RF-S system which is no alternative in my book as an owner of one RF system body & multiple lenses. If only RF & RF-S would have existed instead of RF & EF-M when I got my M6II, I would have probably bought another small Fujifilm APS-C body instead.

+1 Really good characterization ‘Squad.  An incredible amount of capability in such a compact package.  And fun as heck to shoot too!

If Canon drops the M6 II’s price to $549 again (refurbished) I will pull the trigger. I have the RP and a few FF lenses but when I travel or go to a local park the M50 is always my choice. So instead of waiting for a small RF crop body (which should not be as small as a M body) and ‘re-buying’ lenses like the 11-22, 22, 28 and 18-150 (who knows how long it will take for their release) my own version of future proofing is to buy a second and better M body.

btw, I don’t shoot anything moving (fast), so digic X and other AF niceties are not a must have to me. I can use ES most of the time and don’t even need to think about the infamous shutter shock I heard so much about.

I am always on MS and never seen the infamous shutter shock in the 10k images I have taken since I got it.

Thanks KEG, great to hear this feedback. Now let’s see what happens in a couple of weeks, during Black Friday! If nothing happens, I am still ok with the current refurbished price of $649.

I love my M50 but am leaning more towards the M6II for a few features I miss such as the ability to set a minimum shutter speed, 3 dials and a lower profile body with electronic shutter working in the manual modes. I plan to pair it with my 22 mm lens for discreet street and travel shooting. And I can buy the add-on VF for very bright days.

I had the T2i since 2010. Nice to hear that I can still use the EF lens with the adapter.

Never gave much thought for in-body image stabilization (IBIS). As for weather-sealing, never even thought of it either. I am usually careful with my camera. I still have the T2i.

I had been wanting this camera for awhile and the only thing holding me back was the future of the mount. I was so excited when I ordered it, but spent the first two days after receiving it in buyer's remorse questioning why I didnt just go Fuji with their APS-C lineup.

But I think I'm back to being excited. While there aren't as many M mount lenses, I love the options we do have and they can't be beat on size and price. Hopefully Canon keeps them around for sale even if they aren't introducing anything new.

I love the M6 MkII

and I own the current most popular Fujifilm, the X100V.

When I go on a trip, the M6ii is my primary camera and the Fujifilm is the backup.

The tiny, light and inexpensive EF-M lenses are the icing on the cake.  MPB has a bunch of em.

Bought an M6 Mkii and returned it.

To this day I still feel like it was a mistake.  I bought an M3 22mm and 55-200 with charger and extra battery for $300.  Sold that and it was a HUGE mistake.  The ONLY reason I sold the M6 was because of the viewfinder.  I just want one in the corner, not a removable and/or centrally mounted view finder.

Instead I bought the Sony A7c which is pricier, heavier, less resolution, but otherwise it was the equal to the M6ii and it had the evf permanently mounted in the upper left hand corner.
Why am I writing all of this?  To say that you have a an exceptionally good camera, and I don't think there is anything better on the market for the money.  32MP and you can see the difference.  Excellent video work.  The lenses I had were great.  The 22mm is just like having an X100V but better.  I do miss the built in (easy to bounce flash).  The canon app while not the best is extremely useable.  And the body has a full assortment of modern ports, and doesn't have those dangling strap rings.
It really was the ideal set up for me except that view finder (which when attached is better than the a7c)....
