Bought an M6 Mkii this week
13

I had been wanting this camera for awhile and the only thing holding me back was the future of the mount. I was so excited when I ordered it, but spent the first two days after receiving it in buyer's remorse questioning why I didnt just go Fuji with their APS-C lineup.

But I think I'm back to being excited. While there aren't as many M mount lenses, I love the options we do have and they can't be beat on size and price. Hopefully Canon keeps them around for sale even if they aren't introducing anything new.

I also bought one this week after thinking about it for ages. Seems a significant upgrade from my Mk1 and a really well resolved camera.

Same here. I wasn't sure about buying it as the mount's future is uncertain, but I'm very happy with the purchase. I'm still not sure about investing too much cash into EF-M lenses. On one hand they're nice and compact, on the other they won't work on my EOS cameras (which includes film and full frame) for when I finally upgrade my 6D.

I'll probably pick up the 18-150mm and the 11-22 is appealing as well. But who am I kidding, I'll probably end up with a few more lenses down the line but making do with a couple of TTArtisan and 7Artisans lenses in the meantime (32mm and 12mm).

I'm not someone who's going to want to upgrade it in a year or so either - my 6D from 2014 is still going strong and no real reason to upgrade that yet - so i'm going to get full use from the camera whatever happens to the lens mount.

I've also debated how much to invest into EF-M lenses. I for sure want the 22mm and probably the 18-150 as well. But then the 32mm is supposed to be amazing so I see myself getting pulled in.

If I was willing to go for the M6, I might as well complement it with the lenses made to match the form factor.

Yeas this makes a lot of sense, as long as 200mm reach is good enough. Beyond you have to use larger EF lenses on adapter.

My view is that if there are the lenses you want that are available, it simply doesn't matter how many other lenses there are in different mounts. For me, the available lenses in EF-M mount do everything I want to do with my M6II. Remember, there are people who buy those fixed lens Fuji cameras that come with just a 35mm (FF equivalent) lens. The M6II with 22 pancake is already that. And you can switch it to an ultra-wide zoom (11-22), all-purpose zoom (18-150), or a few different fast primes (16 1.4, 32 1.4, 56 1.4). That's more than enough for me. Although I now use an R7 for fast action, I have used the M6II for that too, with adapted EF lenses. It's a terrific little camera, ideal for traveling and everyday use. Easily my favorite street photography camera too.

Defininitely! I already had the 22mm hanging around, which is a great lens, and this was one of the deciding factors in buying the M6 as the form factor is perfect for hill walking. Of course, I go and cancel out any advantage by carrying a couple of film cameras in my pack!

Yeah I can't wait to get the 22mm. I think that on the camera with the 18-150 in a bag will be a perfect do it all travel setup.

Ha Ha, funnily enough I also bought a Fuji X100F on my journey to the M6ii. I can't let it go though as it is such a nice camera.

I suggest 32mm (AV f/1.4) + 11-22mm for travel, for longer range use adapter.

The M compact size and small lenses combined with the picture quality of larger cameraes. The first m shared sensor and many features with the 650d and m5 with the 80d.

The 22 mm, 11-22, 30 and the kit lenses keeps the size compact.

The R10 is like a 100d small, but to big to replace a m camera.

You might consider the 15-45mm kit lens.  I know, I know, just mentioning "kit lens" triggers many a user's gag reflex. I also know of complaints about bad copies.  Maybe I've just been lucky, but both my copies deliver topnotch IQ. And, they have an extremely handy focal-length range. They can be had for reasonable prices as preowned from mpb (with six-months warranty) and from Canon's online outlet as refurbished with at least a 90-day warranty. If you get one and are dissatisfied, return it promptly and I'm sure either place will take it back for refund or exchange.

The 11-22mm is also a gem.

If I was willing to go for the M6, I might as well complement it with the lenses made to match the form factor.

Amen. I have Canon's EF-EF-M adapter and even with just the EF 50mm f1.8 on it's very front heavy.

I do have the kit lens. I knew I wanted the EVF and it was cheaper to get them as a kit than buy the body and EVF separately. I'll be using the kit lens for awhile but I think the 22mm will be my first purchase just because I want that compact setup.

I did get the adapter to use a couple lenses I already had, but I'm guessing it won't see a ton of use once I start upgrading to M lenses.

Well,

Tokina has just announced it has released 3 new APS-C lenses (for EF-M mount) :

300mm, 600mm and 900mm.
