Android Phone: White Balance App?

Are Android photo queries okay in this subforum? I am still saving up to get a decent SLR for my business.

Question: I'm need a white balance app for shooting my shots. Is there one that can be installed that sets the white balance BEFORE ths shot, or are these all applied after the fact? (If so, I believe the stock, built-in version will be sufficient for my purposed.)

Also, can any recommend a possible Android-specific forum that might be more clued in to camera phone features?

Thank You,

Scott

You can try to search for "camera raw" in play store. My former Andriod 9 phone was able to record .dng files with a raw app. My Android 11 cant, though.
Then, of course, you'll need a raw converter for your pc/mac to set the white balance and convert it to a corrected .jpg.

Re: Android Phone: White Balance App?

Thanks, Folks. I was unaware of the Android photo subforum down below. I'll get the model number and Android version I'm using and post down there.

Thanks!

My Sony Xperia allows me to set the white balance manually before I shoot.

I recommend OpenCamera

Or mirrorless? DSLR cameras suffer from mirror slap - often cellphones give better results at wide angle. Interchangeable lens camera (ILC) is way better for telephoto.

Yes, OpenCamera has this interface, if you enable Camera2 API.

https://opencamera.sourceforge.io/help.html#user_interface

OpenCamera also has a Raw (DNG) option, so you can change white balance ex post facto. This is what I would recommend because the human eye is not good at judging proper white balance in the field. Darktable is able to edit DNG files, and is free.

The Google forums are full of cr@p but you might find something there, or on Reddit. This forum is generally quiet but posters here are knowledgeable.
