Dotted lines on photos and flickering screen on X-T4

On the 13th month of use my Fujifilm X-T4 is showing white+RGB dashes/dots on photos (raw & jpg). They appear on different places on different photos (not dead or hot pixels). Flickering lines are also seen on the screen. Locations change, though generally they appear towards the upper left side. They also appear when using different lenses. The dots appear on most photos but are absent on some. (check the image attached)

Anyone experiencing this, know what's going on, or know a fix for it?

First try different cards, test for a faulty card

Try Jpeg only then RAW only, test for Jpeg engine

With Acquire save you settings, then reset to default your camera, test for a setting config problem

Finally you could try also a pixel mapping

Hope this helps

Thanks bob for the reply.

I tried with different cards, different lenses, it's the same. The flickering happens even without the card. Tried jpeg only and raw only as well, same. Reseted the camera, upgraded the firmware to the latest, no success. Tried pixel mapping as well, no difference, as they are not hot or dead pixels.

I'm trying to find a fujifilm repair service here in Melbourne, I have written to the email on the fujifilm website, and waiting for a response.

I found a similar thread for x-t30. Not sure how it was finally fixed.

Btw did you look at possible unwanted dust or similar on the sensor that could cause the phenomenon (though unlikely)

Re: Dotted lines on photos and flickering screen on X-T4

Since the phenomenon appears on different parts of the sensor it is probably not the sensor itself but it could be an electro magnetic interference while creating the image.

What about MS against ES ?

What about very fast SS against very slow SS ?

Most probably an electric fault in the body (loose electric contact)

I tried on MS only and ES only. It's still there. On fast and slow SS too.
They are less when there's more light. I can't figure out a consistent way to decrease them. If increase SS and decrease ISO and make the aperture smaller (making the image darker), the lines are definitely more most of the time.

I don't really know how to look for dust. To my eyes, the sensor appears pretty clean. There is no visible dust on photos. Like you have said, it's unlikely the cause if from dust.

You are probably right. I will try to take it to a repair shop after the weekend.

It is not dust, it is not the sensor, it is not the card. It looks like an electrical fault in the mother board. Whether it is a loose contact or the whole motherboard needs replacing, the camera needs to be opened up. What are your warranty/repair options? You mentioned a repair shop? Are they associated with Fuji? Not sure where you are, but in the UK, I would contact Fuji UK and post the camera to them.

Thanks Dem Bell. I think you are right about this. I am currently in Melbourne. I contacted Fuji Australia, who asked me to post the camera to Sydney to get a repair quote. Camera is not currently under international warranty. I bought from Vietnam in Sep 2021. I'm thinking of taking to a camera repair shop here in Melbourne. I'm not sure if that's the best thing to do.

Re: Dotted lines on photos and flickering screen on X-T4

Have you fixed the camera? I have the exact same problem on my x-t30 ii.

I bought the camera a couple of days ago and noticed the white pixel lines on both screens, also on photos and on videos. Exactly as you described it.

This morning I talked to the service guys and they told me that it's probably the camera sensor.

Nasty issue... they said the camera will probably be replaced.

Hi altRazvan,

I sent the camera to fujifilm service center. They replaced something called the PWD. (I'm not sure what it is, it's not the sensor). Camara has been fine since then. Although the camera was a bit older than a year, they did not charge me anything. I am very happy with the service provided by Fujifilm Australia. I hope you can get it fixed too. Good luck.

I'm glad you got it fixed. My camera was replaced. I'm guessing it was a complex issue if they preferred replacing rather than repairing it. So, its great that they fixed if for you free of charge.
I hope our cameras remain issue free.
