First shots with E-PM2 kit...
24

Well been a while since I posted as all my Olympus gear was stolen when I moved to a new city and just don't have the 8K to replace it and my commercial insurance refused the claim as there was no damage to the car, next time guess I'll just smash the window myself.
I've been using a hand me down Nikon D5100 and already broke a few lenses lol so saw a sweet deal on a used E-PM2 two lens kit for $150 CDN
No EVF and no tilt of flip out is pretty annoying. I still compose mostly with EVF even on my stolen EM1's and the D5100
This is from Kamloops British Columbia by Kamloops Lake/Cooney Bay. They sky is smokey from forest fires.

so having to use the rear screen is going to be some time to get use to.
5 2ev shots HDR conversion in Darktable.

Heya, fellow Albertan here

I don't have much qualms with the various 16MP sensors that have shown up throughout the M4/3 time line. It creates good and reliable images.  Nice job the HDR images though, quite liking them.

I just like trying all sorts of cameras , but my soft spot is Micro Four Thirds.

That's a bomb - ass deal! What lenses? Can you pick up the addon viewfinder for cheap?

Shooting with my E-PM1 I have found that it's kind of annoying to shoot anything but center AF on aperture priority mode wide open. No wheel is killing me! But I haven't been that hurt by the lack of viewfinder, though I would prefer it.

Look for a used Olympus VF-2, VF-3, VF-4, or even a Leica Visoflex EVF 2 if you can find one cheaply. Then you'll have a tilting EVF!

Just the kit lenses 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 II R and 40-150mm F4.0-5.6 R. If it had at least a tilt screen I could do with the other limitations for landscape anything else would be too much frustrations unless its in auto mode lol

I noticed it has the same noise levels as my old Em1 Mk1 with HDR images. My Em1 Mk2 was pretty clean noise wise in HDR but overall the image file quality was quite a bit better with the Mk2 mind you since most people see my photos on social media/phone none of that really matters lol

Unfortunately having to move 3 hours from  Vancouver area its like a desert here for used photo equipment vs what available in Vancouver area on FB and Craigslist. The two camera stores here just carry old stuff and if anything newer its 0 for Olympus/Panasonic.

Nice shots..I thought I recognized the Kamloops area. You captured it well.

I had a PM2...wish I'd kept it. Even had it converted to IR. A wonderful little camera.

I had the VF-2 on my old EPL1. It was very handy but was easy to knock off the camera.

Olympus became aware of that problem so the VF-3 and 4 have locking mechanisms.

Re: First shots with E-PM2 kit...

This is a still very good camera for traveling. I have PL5 (with tilt screen) and PM2. I like PM2 more especially with 14mm f2.5 lens. Only few thing is really annoying: this cameras suffering from shuttershock a LOT (no 0 second antishock). I avoid 1/60 to 1/200 because of that . No focus peaking, BUT there is some cheat you can find in youtube if you want. And the last this is very weak IBIS.

So I decided to sell my cameras cameras.

I learned to live with 1/8" anti-shock on those bodies, and for most subjects it doesn't cause you to miss any moments.

The E-PL7 and later have a revised shutter that doesn't suffer from shutter shock issues.

Real nice set Arek, always enjoy your compositions and locations. And your are another example that it is the equipment behind the evf that holds the most significant keys to a great photo.

Hope the Kamloops region provides some nice winter shooting.
peace

Yup!

I go through the same thing when using my E-M10 II VS the E-M1 mkII, you really do notice it in the details but unless it's going to be a large print that someone gets close up with it's not going to be a big issue.

Glad to see that you're really liking the E-PM2, that's one of those cameras I've always seen and thought that it would be pretty cool to have and just carry everywhere.

Congratulations on such a fine deal for a very capable camera!

The Olympus E-P5 was my first Olympus purchase and was the point at which I decided to delve into Micro Four Thirds.  The YT presenter that sealed my decision on this camera had an E-PM2 as a backup camera and he was using that camera to record the video.  For awhile, I considered picking up the E-PM2 but ended up getting a second E-P5.

Cheers!

Jim

I had an EPL1 in 2011 and hated it was so frustrating to use compared to my E1 and GH1 especially the size of it was way to cramped. The EPM2 is even smaller but for some reason I like it, maybe because I have no choice and no money to replace all my stolen Oly gear lol.

The main thing is that you have a camera that can help you capture very pleasing photos!

Good luck!
