Canon T3i AEB gives blurry first image

I have been photographing some watercolor paintings and have noticed different image sharpness of 3 bracketed exposures of the same painting.

The first of the exposures shows poor image sharpness. The 2nd and 3rd exposures show better image sharpness.
The exposures were taken in LiveMode, and I understand this enables EFCS by default.

My setup is as follows.
Canon EOS T3i with Canon EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens. Camera is mounted on a tripod.
Exposures are made with a shutter release cable. The camera to object distance is about 2 feet.

I use LiveView to manually adjust the focus at the 10x display on the LCD. I bracket 3 exposures in 1/3 stop increments. I have used aperture priority set at f/4.5. The ISO setting is set to 100.

The first exposure is at 1/10 sec and is blurry.
The second exposure at 1/13 sec is sharp.
The third exposure is at 1/8 sec and is sharp.

What can be causing the first exposure to be blurred?

It sounds like either an internal fault (unlikely IMO) of something is knocking the camera.

Could you provide samples?

Richard,

Just out of  curiosity, have you tried taking the photos with either a 2 second, or a 10 second delay, and does the same thing happen?

Well, color my face red!

I believe that I have found the issue. The mounting device I was using to hold the watercolors seems to have been touching a refrigerator. I blame the compressor vibration for the blurry image.

I changed to a steady tripod to hold the watercolor and could not replicate the blurry image.

Thanks for your attention and suggestions.
