Something strange going on at Whitlenge Gardens

Filibuster notes that there’s something strange going on at Whitlenge Gardens, here in the Midlands U.K.

Not that anyone would notice of course!

Not during this visit.  Perhaps they were scared off?

Beautiful photos! thank you for sharing.

My favorites are 1, 5 and 7.

I think just for taking some good shots, visiting such strange places is not worth. I go at least with a buddy!

Hi dolivaw and thank you for your kind comment. Now that I am creeping up to the 80-year milestone, a buddy to go with, is hard to find. In the past, I have always been one to ghost around (forgive the expression) ISO 100. If I failed to nail the shot through motion blur, then so be it. Such shots would be viewed and culled.

My hand holding technique isn’t as steady as it were in my youth. In order to compensate for the shakes caused from age and ingesting too much Expresso, I have found a need to up the camera ISO value to guarantee a faster shutter speed, re-establishing that rock steady hand-held blur free shot. I have set the ISO to fall between ISO 400 peaking at ISO 800, for a trial run. (Gone are the days of living purely on ISO 100!) But I would like to think that I won’t need to call on ISO 1600 until I am lucky enough to reach say, age 90, and assume meanwhile, that my brain hasn’t turned into banana fruit cake adrift in an ocean of baba ghanoush.

There is normally a penalty for gaining up the sensor. I knew this venue had a fair proportion of shady nooks and crannies, normally featuring a layout of fairy gardens. As I am at that age where I tend to live with the fairies anyway, it seemed a good venue to work, and the camera, deliberately set for the shoot, at ISO800. You probably noticed!

Warmest regards

Keith

Hi R2, and thanks for dropping by.

What is not mentioned in the original posting, is my wish to try out my new script for batch processing. I’ve introduced a modicum of noise reduction this time, into the process. It doesn’t get much of a mention in these hallowed places, but I use Corel’s PaintShop Pro, where I have recorded my own script. Yesterday was a trial run, with the M6MkII, and the 18-150. With my marginally cataract impacted vision, I’m thinking a decent outcome.

Next time the U.K can muster up a bit of sunshine, I may well do a similar run with the 11-22. It’s knocking around, somewhere.

Hi Keith. Sorry for late reply, I don't come in often.

Finding buddy is a challenge, in every age. Could hire a ghostbuster bodyguard then.

Yes, I noticed several beautifully exposed shots at low shutter speeds in one of your recent posts (about delightful gardens and gloomy rooms ). Admired the specific way and style.
