Stylus 1 - from a recent trip. Many photos.
12

Hello,

Some pictures from a recent trip to Normandy and Belgium. I ended up using my phone half of the time due to the wider lens, rain and convenience. Now looking back at the phone pictures, the wider angle did not add that much and I wish I'd stuck with using mainly the camera.

The Stylus 1 did good with landscapes, there is plenty of detail in them. Processed from RAW in LR. I do not run any noise reduction, a little bit of fine grain is OK with me. I'm still very impressed with this camera, the lens/sensor combo produces sharp pictures through the entire range.

I apologize for the too many photos, should have culled more mercilessly.

Thanks. I have one too and I think it's a great travel camera. I've been experimenting with DXO PureRAW 2 and much prefer the results to my standard Lightroom processing.

Thank you for sharing Valentin! They are absolutely gorgeous and the clouds kind of look like they've been painted in, especially on that roundabout. The one after that looks like it should be a painting maybe a van Gogh on a rainy night.

The sunflower with the split background is absolutely gorgeous as well.

Very good shots, and a super choice of equipment as far as I am concerned. I have what is probably too many different cameras, and frequently have this notion that my Stylus 1 is the best of the lot overall.  I just keep going back to mine and it never lets me down.  I like fooling around with different cameras and pushing small sensor cameras to their limit, and time and time again my Stylus is up to how ever hard I push it.

Very nice pictures and very encouraging to see what that little camera is capable of.  I also have one  and have been experimenting with small fixed lens cameras as both a primary and as a backup (or secondary) camera.  I was very interested in seeing your pictures and they certainly didn't disappoint.  Very nice.

Peace.

Thanks for the DXO info, might give it a try at some point. I'm trying to not pixel peep so for now LR is good enough. I wish I bought this camera years ago but it was probably outside my budget when it was released.

Thanks, jlina. It was cloudy and rainy most of the time we were in France but thankfully there was one nice sunny day. I haven't used any of my Panasonic cameras since the Spring, need to dust them off...

Thanks for the comment, Bob. Yes, it is a great little camera. Recently I took it to a family gathering with the small MEIKE MK-320P bounce flash and it produced very good pictures on par with my DSLR flash people photos. I was very pleasantly surprised. Even the non flash indoor photos turned OK up to ISO 1600.

Thanks, John. Have fun with it, there is a learning curve with the user interface coming from other systems but once setup it is very easy to change settings. Look up this thread with recommended setups by Elliott. It helped me to figure out a few things.

What a splendid trip I just took with no effort except thoroughly enjoying your photos.

I'm glad many find my suggestions helpful. This is the later 2019 version, same info as 2014, but condensed

Gorgeous photos. I have the Stylus 1 also which I now use almost exclusively and after owning countless cameras, I think the Stylus 1 is the best digital camera Olympus has ever produced. Certainly the best compact anyway, all things considered.

I believe they, or OMD were scared it might hurt the m43 business so discontinued it.
