My GoPro10 as an underwater (snorkelling) camera review
3

This summer my 2nd Olympus TG6 flooded and fortunately my colleagues at work bought me a GoPro10 as a gift! I have always been quite skeptical about the GoPro because I don't shoot video and I am more into photography, however I have to admit that for some cases the GoPro can be a good alternative.

The whole experience is quite different than with the Olympus. Camera is tiny and battery very short. Furthermore, contrary to Olympus (and any camera), I prefer to shoot high resolution videos with the GoPro and grab the frames I like even though they are plain JPEG files. What I liked about the GoPro is that since its video you can grab moments which may not be that easy to grab with another camera. Furthermore its one of the smallest setups for split photography (although not very easy to use).

In terms of IQ, images have less detail than the TG6 so its not suggested for macro or any photography that needs details. Here are some samples:

Most possibly the GoPro10 is the cheapest way to do split photography

Photos look great with nice colors.  For the split photo no dome, right?  Also photos pulled from 5k at 30fps?

Just ordered the 10 myself as am headed to snorkeling soon.  Hope to get such nice captures!

The split is with the cheap telesyn dome from Amazon. Photos pulled from 5.3k video.

Gorgeous set of images 👍👍 👍, my 11 was delivered yesterday and I’m just learning the menus but did you notice what size the images were when pulled from video vs it’s camera full size images?  We’re these pulled from 5.2k or a lower quality?

I also use a Telesin Dome port on my GoPro Hero 4 for shallow photography. I love it.

If I remember correctly, it was from 5.2k.
